blank backgrounds in both Firefox and IE

Post by huskertony »

I have an issue that all my backgrounds are blank. This creates problems because drop down menus are blank backgrounds as well. So the text is on top of other text. This happens in both my browsers. No themes work to resolve this either. I have gone thru all the fonts, backgrounds, themes and cannot find a solution. I am a novice and this is my first post, so help would be appreciated. Please try to explain in simple terms as I may not know technical terms.

many thanks

Which operating system (I know it's Windows - which one)? What kind of modifications have you made to your desktop theme in Windows?

Windows XP. I have used the themes and a picture for the desktop, but I do not know if I made any additional modifications. Hope this is what you are asking.

Try resetting the desktop theme to one of the standard ones and exclude the picture. There may be something in the desktop theme that is getting in the way.

Ok, I went to dislplay and set it as the standard xp theme and that got rid of the photo. Still my browser is blank background, as is this link as well along with many others. Someone suggested it was an issue with a firefox extension, but I don't know that I ever accepted an extension other than themes as I tried to solve this on my one. But that did not work either.

If you are having the problem with both Firefox and IE, it is very unlikely that the source of the problem is in either application. Have you checked your video driver?

How new is your computer? From whom did you purchase it? Have you checked for Windows updates?

Try contacting Dell for assistance with the video driver. It could be corrupt or otherwise require an upgrade.

This should go to Mozillazine Tech since it's not a Firefox issue. Moving.
