Search Settings Notification Box

Post by bicycletim »

How to I get rid of a Search Settings Notification box pop up? It appears every time I change tabs or open a new page. You have to click on it you cant ignore it. It states 'Your search settings have been restored to their default settings'.

Also when I open a new tab, rather than a blank page I now get 'Welcome to Tabbed Browsing' the address bar has this in it chrome://searchsettingsplugin/skin/tabwelcome.html.

How do i get rid of these annoyances?

Where did you download Firefox from? Was it from an official Mozilla Mirror website?
Or maybe something you installed (either into Firefox or another program) contained that "gift" of unwanted software?

HOW I GOT RID OF THE MAgnifying glass and "Search Settings Notification".

Go to http://www.download.com/Dealio-Toolbar/ ... 49453.html

Install the Dealio toolbar so you have a complete application which WILL UNINSTALL.

How do I uninstall the Dealio Toolbar using Add / Remove Programs?

To remove the Dealio Toolbar using Add / Remove Programs:
1. Click on the Windows Start button in the lower left of your screen.
2. From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
3. Click Add / Remove Programs (XP/2000) or Uninstall Program (Vista) in the Control Panel.
4. Select "Dealio Toolbar" from the list of installed programs.
5. Click Remove (XP/2000) or Uninstall / Change (Vista).
6. IMPORTANT --- Follow the directions of the Dealio Toolbar uninstall program.

This will remove the Dealio Toolbar from both IE and Firefox (if installed).

Then go to Program folder Mozill Firefox and Find and DELETE the file "SearchSettings.exe"

IT worked for me on XP after spending hours trying other methods

Good luck.

Jess

Go to DEALIO and RE-INSTALL the TOOLBAR - then using DEALIO "Uninstall" it. Then find the

Hi there,

I downloaded the Yahoo toolbar and since then I have been receiving a pop up message every 10 seconds titled 'Search Settings Change Notification - Yahoo! has disabled a program that attempted to change your default search engine'.

I can't seem to find 'search@searchsetting.com' in 'c:\Program Files\Firefox\extensions\search@searchsettings.com' and wondered if anyone had any other suggestions on how I could remove this?

Thanks

I was getting this too but it said "yahoo has blocked..." popup. I tried several things but what seemed to have worked was I restored my computer to 3 or 4 days prior to when I remember the pop-up started. So far, it has not come back...I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Old topic and it has nothing to do with the yahoo toolbar. Locking. Start a new thread please.
