New year's greetings to all.
1:
Is there a method whereby the Filter option in about:config be set to 'Value' instead of 'Preference Name' ? (Thanks for the info for 3.0 dickvl)
2:
Currently I notice images representing downloads that I drag and drop via image links appear in this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp
-Scenario
Firefox 2.0 on XP2
Download Folder = "c:\Temp"
Open 'Firefox.'
Open 'Download Window'
Download an object(item.exe) via a link embedded on an image(item.jpg)
'Clear Private Data'
item.jpg found in 'C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp'
-End Scenario
I tried to find the string that sets this default path for my firefox and to no luck. Is there a setting whereby I can relocate such temp folders that firefox uses?
This is a concern for me as despite selecting 'Clear Private Data', the contents in that specific folder that were generated via firefox did not clear.

Firefox stores info in the 'Cache'.
Here's a little reading material re; the 'Profile folder',

Yeah 'Cache' is stored under 'Application Data' sub-directories aka 'Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles'
Which has got nothing to do with my 'Local Settings' aka 'C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp '
I can't find out where the setting is in the config that redirects cached image links that have been dragged and dropped into the download window to that specific folder.

Check what is the windows setting for TEMP and TMP folders.
browser.download.dir
browser.download.lastDir
browser.download.dir
browser.download.lastDir

You mean the download folder?
browser.download.dir | user set | string | C:\TEMP
browser.download.lastDir | user set | string | SOMEFOLDERICHOSHEKRETLY
That's set to "C:\TEMP" as the actual scenario stated above.

Firefox sometimes downloads to TEMP (system define) and moves the file afterwards.
If nothing else is given everything is downloaded to "browser.download.dir".

If by system defined aka C:\...\Local Settings\TEMP and 'sometimes' ?
This situation occurs only when I download via 'dragging & dropping' an item which has an image associated to it.
Say for example, that nice mozillaZine logo at the top left hand corner of this forum.
Drag that icon onto the download window.
mozilla.htm and other related items will be saved into the defined dwonload path.
BUT the image itself "title.gif" will be located at the 'C:\...\Local Settings\TEMP' folder.

I have set to "Ask me" and if i do that FF opens the dialog with "lastdir" as default.
Can not confirm or deny because i have currently only trunk builds available. I do not find the image anywhere.
