checking version number

I have a mozilla xpi that I would like to start using on phoenix. With mozilla, I check what version of windows and mozilla they are using before I install it. I would like to do this with phoenix as well. I was wondering if I should go about doing this the same way I did in mozilla, by checking the build ID, or if there was a better way with phoenix. I will only be using milestone builds so getting the build ID may not be the simplest way. Also, if using the build ID, where is it located? The build ID in the about menu is missing the last two digits of the build ID and I havent been able to find it anywhere else. Thanks.
