Always three times failure before launch "chrome regis

Post by MFrenzel »

Hi, I´m using Firefox with VISTA. Two weeks now, always after using the desktop-icon for launch, three times this message: "Fire Fox cannot launch, failure in chrome registration". After vthat firefox launches. What can I do? I´m NOT very experienced and not familiar with an any technical specifics or technical terms. And I would prefer a solution explained as if I were "eight years old" - and perhaps in German?
Thanks a lot! My email is *********@****.**** < email address removed by Moderator

The Knowledge Base article, http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions
....under "ThinkVantage Password Manager Extension" says,
May cause a "failure in chrome registration" error when starting Firefox.
Note: In Windows Vista, exiting Firefox, right clicking the Firefox icon and selecting "Run as administrator" may resolve the issue; if not, use the workaround.
Workaround:
Uninstall or disable the extension (from Firefox Safe Mode if necessary) if you don't need it or find the file tvtpwm_moz_xpi.xpi (usually in "C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Client Security Solution") and open it in Firefox to reinstall the extension.

To prevent this error from happening again, you need your system administrator to log on with an administrator account, and run Firefox at least once.

If you are registered with the Firefox Support site then you will see the following feedback to the article:

Please update this page with this information:
If you get this error message in Windows Vista you have to close all Firefox windows and right click the Firefox icon and select "Run as administrator". Then you get some error messages but the plugin installs and seems to work with every other startup of Firefox.

The ThinkVantage Password Manager 2.0 isn't installed and all the buttons are disabled (gray). The error is because it cannot be installed when Firefox restart. How can I remove the trigger that tries to install "The ThinkVantage Password Manager 2.0" each time Firefox restarts.
