Same question. Anyone know of any other extension that does the same thing and works with FF3? I love this extension and don't want to downgrade to FF2.

I found "Drag de Go", which works with 3.0:

I get an error when trying to install this modded version.
Drag de Go" will not be installed because it does not provide secure updates

You have to change extensions.checkUpdateSecurity to false in about:config

An idea...
Could the extension be modified so that if you drag what you have selected in different directions it does different things?

Example:
Drag Right -> Search in google or open in new tab a link (as it is now)
Drag Left -> Search in google with the define: operator prepended
Drag Down -> Search the word selected in wikipedia
Drag Up -> Search in one of the available search engines of the search bar (maybe it could be possible to assign operation to the direction in the settings)

Other desirable operations could be:
translation of the page in another language.... (sorry but english is not my main language and i find myself using translation services on the web often)
etc...

wow! what an excellent idea! ++support!
please, if implementing, let the user choose via a pulldown menu what he/she wants to do while draggin into a direction.

This topic is not for DragDeGo discussion. Search for DragDeGo topic and ask there.

I posted the Drag de Go item in here too b/c of the DDG help a few posts earlier in this thread.

That aside, I would love to have a FF3beta2-functional Super Drag and Go extension. I have been using SD&G for a number of years and was only interested in DDG b/c it seems to be in active development vs. SD&G, which looks to be dead in the water.

I'm terribly sorry for not having gotten around to this earlier. I've been very busy and I only got around to tinkering with Firefox 3 just a few days ago. Anyway, I have posted a new version of SD&G (version 0.2.6.3) that should work with the latest FF3 betas...

Why don't you post this extension on AMO?? :?:

I can't. Only the original author is allowed to update the extension on AMO. I'm not the original author; I'm just the guy maintaining the code. I can only post it to AMO if I post it as a new, different extension.

And why can't you do it? Call it SDaG2, keep original author as one of coauthors and post it.
