Just for everyone's information, Firefox 2.0.0.13 builds are on their way. I think they should be ready by the weekend.
Also after that I'll be doing the SeaMonkey 1.1.9 builds.

I recently switched to an Intel-based Mac, so I no longer use the PPC builds. I just wanted to say thanks for putting them out on a regular basis. I wish the guy who does the Intel optimized builds was as diligent as you are.

Thanks again.

Firefox and SeaMonkey security releases

Post by RPMozley »

I've just uploaded my optimised builds of Firefox 2.0.0.15 and SeaMonkey 1.1.10
As usual with Firfoxy widgets installed already and for SeaMonkey, also AdBlock Plus.

Also, to note, I will be doing some optimised builds of Firefox 3.0.1 when it is released (I'm hearing it'll be sometime soon this month, on the grapevine). It will be just my luck if it is released next week as I'll be away again, oh well you'll have to wait then if that happens.

Post by RPMozley »

Ok, for all you SeaMonkey fans out there, my optimised builds are being uploaded as I'm typing this (one left to go). So get the security release 1.1.11 now while it's still hot. :D

O:) Oh, looks like it's finished uploading now that I'm done typing.

My optimised builds of Firefox 2.0.0.16 security release are up and available now. O:)

I'll be doing the Firefox 3.0.1 builds in the next few days or so. Will see how things go with the building but if there's no problems, they should be ready by the end of the weekend. :-k

I have finished and uploaded my optimised builds of Firefox 3.0.1 :D
For Mac OS X 10.4 (tiger) and above.

I had a few problems building after doing a distclean. It seems that it deletes a needed source file. Took me a while to narrow down the problem and some more time to find a quick fix for it.
Hopefully no more problems next time with 3.0.2 after it's released. :-k

Thunderbird 2.0.0.16 security release

My optimised builds of Thunderbird 2.0.0.16 are ready and available now. A bit of a delay on them but it couldn't be helped as I was away from my computer for most of the weekend. :-"

I just got a G4 1.467GHz system set up.

Between the 1.467GHz CPU and the old 400MHz G4 CPU I was using, I don't think I noticed a difference in the performance of the browser compared to the official release.

The CPU is a OWC "Mercury Extreme" 7455B G4, 1.467 GHz, (133 MHz BUS).

Do these optimized builds move stuff from regular PowerPC CPU functions to that AltiVec thing? How are these builds "optimized"?
Where would I see an improvement at?
