404 URL Error Redirection - how do I fix this?

Post by bedizzy »

a couple days ago, I started getting this page in place of the generic "404 error" page:

Image

it's sponsored by ''megaclick'' and full of links... and it says Internet Explorer even though I'm in firefox... at the bottom it says:

"To disable the URL Error Redirection, go to the option page of your toolbar."

but there's no option for that, I've checked all over and found nothing... how can I get rid of this page and switch back to the plain "404 error"

any help is appreciated

Try this first: Go to Tools->Addons and remove the megaupload plugin and restart firefox.

Thanks a bunch.. something simular .. in my case anyhow was happening with m FireFox often..

Mostly when the address was wrong or didn't exist etc...

This thing appeared .. and if i click BACK button - it didn't take me back.. - it redirected me to the same ERROR screen..

it told me to disable something in toolbar options or something like that.. - but there was nothing there to disable etc..

But you said above .. - to get rid of that Megaupload plugin in / toolbar.. or whatever it was.. (that i guess i had installed in the past .. or it got installed on it's own or whatever) - I never used it anyhow..

I disabled it.. / got rid of it.. - restarted FireFox .. - and the above described problem - is finally gone!

lol..

The screen looks bigger now too!! - this thingy was taking some space on the screen there i guess (from left to right there on top)

I had it for a while already.. this problem.. but just lived with it..
Never really went about getting rid of it..
And then today.. i suddenly said.. - enough.. let me try to get rid of it..

Looked for something to disable in Options etc.. - never found nothing..

So then i went to Google (hehe) - and typed in the entire thing about "disabling something in toobar etc" that it was telling me on the screen (i used Copy/Paste) :)

And it gave me some matches :)
SO one of them led here.. - and .. the rest is history .. problem is SOLVED!

Thanks again..

P.S. Looks like pretty good forum here anyhow.. - i will more likely register here later... ;)
