Hallo,

after the update to TB 2.0.0.14 yesterday I get a new window "User Identification Request" when starting Thunderbird: "The site has requested that you identify yourself with a certificate". After having chosen my X.509 (S/MIME) certificate, all is ok and normal.

This new behaviour only comes when such a certificate is defined within TB and used for automatic signing of the emails. Also, the IMAP server has to be contacted with SSL for showing this. With TB 2.0.0.12 and before this was never seen.

Is it a bug - or a new feature? It's some kind of annoying.

Ralph

It has been reported as a bug, but developers have not yet looked into it: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431819

There is no point in adding "me too" comments to bug reports, but you could add yourself to the bug's CC list if you are interested in monitoring progress.
