Scroll performance
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008050506 Minefield/3.0pre
From Firefox 3 betas I noticed poor scroll performance on some sites.
For example, on site www.fm-zagorje.org scrolling isn't fluid as it used to be in 2.0.x. When scrollling CPU usage jumps to 90%-100%. Similar poor scroll performance can be noticed on other sites and all them scrolled fine in Firefox 2.0.
Another example on this site is when user clicks red boxes under "IZ DRUGIH MEDIJA" and resizing occurs. In Firefox 3 animation is pretty slow compared to Firefox 2.0. CPU usage is 100%.
If I disable images, scrolling and animation is fluid.
I tried to search bugzilla, but i couldn't find anything relevant.
I'm testing this on laptop with centrino 1.5GHz processor so I assume that this is related to relatively slow computer speed.

That's not bad. This page even hangs my browser after a bit of slowscrolling:

Yes, terrible...
If you remove 'fixed' from HTML code:
Code: Select all
body style="background: url(images/backgrid.gif) fixed repeat-x" onLoad="menuInit()"
It helps a lot...
Or, if you remove this background image completely scrolling gets normal again.

www.fm-zagorje.org scrolls pretty fine for me.
That other sites with the fixed backgrounds is pretty bad. Though, Firefox and other browsers has always had a problem with fixed backgrounds.

Which other browsers? IE, Maxthon and Opera don't have any problems at all with fixed backgrounds.
Yes, IE's and Opera's scrolling does take a hit on my PC with sites that have fixed backgrounds. ITs not as bad as Firefox but its still there. The scrolling goes from smooth to choppy and is even worse when Flash is on the same page.

This site not pretty fine for me...and my problem is @njuzovi's problem same too...What are we doing ?!
This is bug or not ?!
Yes, I would really like to know.
It has something to do with image backgrounds (if I turn images off, everything seems to work fine). In bugzilla there is an entry mentioning scrolling performance in relation with transparent images, but on www.fm-zagorje.org there are no transparent image backgrounds.
I would also like to know if there is some kind of workaround that doesn't include turning off images
