Past Modern theme Development

Post by Kuden »

This is a forum for the developement of the Past Modern. I accept questions, problems, suggestions here.

Known Issues:
Bug 401213 -- The full page zoom changes the size of XUL scrollbars
Bug 378272 -- Print Preview Scrollbar is too large on No native appearance theme
Bug 394791 -- Advanced prefpane tabs can be cropped

I'm poor at English. Please use simple English when you contact me. If you show me the screenshot, I become easy to understand what you want to say.

This theme is based on Phoenity Modern. Please see also at [Theme] Phoenity Modern.

It looks pretty good Kuden. The scrollbars could use some improvements, though. It is not polished (shiny, rounded ) and looks pretty block-like (meaning it is square). The X (Close button like on the tabs) button doesn't quite look right.

Thank you. And, I apologize for this late reply.

This design follows SeaMonkey Modern theme. I like this very much.

Hi, I'd like to ask you if it would be possible to have the look of of Phoenity Modern as an option. I like it more. Thanks.

I decide to end the development of Phoenity Modern by Firefox 3 compatible version (and minor update).
I have neither time nor motivation.
I and Lim Chee Aun just hope for someone to take over the development of Phoenity Modern.

If you really hope someone will take it over, you should make a specific announcement on this forum: "Phoenity Modern needs someone to take it over" - or something like that - in its own thread.

I love the theme, thank you very much! I know your site says you are not scheduled to make similar for Thunderbird, but if you do find time I would like to see it.

Me, too.

I am making the theme to use myself.

I was using the browser of Netscape 6/7. I was not using the mail of Netscape 6/7. I liked the Moden theme of Netscape 6/7 very much.
But, I do not have the nostalgia to the mail of Netscape6/7.

I like Qute/Kempelton very much. I did not like Winstripe (default theme of Firefox 1.0.x) so much.
I started the development of Phoenity Modern five years ago.

I do not have motivation that makes the Thunderbird theme because I am satisfied with Kempelton.

I am sorry that I can not meet your expectation.

You do not need to apologize. I was just curious, and thanks!

hi, i like the skin.

is there a way i can make all buttons and everything not blue-ish? i'd love to see a just "gray" version as i do not like blue stuff on my desktop. (unfortunately 90% of the skins you get are with blue buttons which sucks)

in german:
hallo

Do you want to make the theme of the gray (silver) based on this theme? It is a good idea!
You can refer to GrayModern2 and GrayModern for SeaMonkey.

I Like this Past Modern best of all, because it's striking simplicity, and because I like it grey like the rest of my XP bars. Only one thing that I am missing however. Do you remember that theme SilverSkin? In that theme, made for FireFox2, the location bar changed color when visiting secure (green) or bad (red) sites. Is that possible for you to do in this theme? I am missing that very strongly.

@OSIRIS7

It is easy.
However, I do not recommend it for you.

* Firefox 3, IE7/8, Opera 9.50 -> If EV SSL, The background color of Location bar changes into green.
* Firefox 3 -> If SSL, The background color of "Larry" changes into blue.
* IE7/8 -> If Attack Site, The background color of Location bar changes into red.

Past Moden conforms to Firefox 3 default theme.

Firefox 3: Site Identification button

Bug 417844 -- SSL appearance for site identity button and location bar should be consistent across platforms
Bug 414627 -- Decide default amount of site-button text for DV-SSL

Aha, I did not know that. Thanks. However, I am still missing it a bit. A colored location bar attracts more attention than a small icon left of the bar. But hey, that's just me.
Let it be like it is then.

Greetings,

OK. But, I do'nt think that this is a good method...

userChrome.css code:

Code: Select all

#urlbar[level="high"],
#urlbar[level="low"] {
  background-color: rgb(163, 229, 155) !important;
  background-image: none !important;
}

#urlbar[level="broken"] {
  background-color: rgb(248, 180, 181) !important;
  background-image: none !important;
}
