What is in the minidump?

Post by Anonymosity »

With Firefox 3, I see there is a new subdirectory in the profile, called minidump. The references I found that mention it gave me the impression that it is something to do with Firefox crashing, and sending a Talkback report, but did not give details. Exactly what is in the minidump files? I took a look at one, but it was all binary code, which I cannot interpret. Is it all right to delete them later? I presume that they have already done their job.

As you say, minidumps folder relates to the crash reporter. Read more about it http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Mozi ... h_Reporter

Collapse unwanted MozillaZine forum sections ** Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime; give a man religion and he will die praying for a fish.

Ok, I read the page, but it does not mention the minidump in the profile, only the Crash Reports next to the Profiles. I looked at about:crashes, and there were no crashes according to that. There are 2 files in the minidump directory, however.
