FAQ: When is 0.8 coming out?

Post by djst »

The target release date is Monday February 9th. This according to Ben Goodger, Chief Executive Software Engineer Guru and CEO of the Mozilla Firebird Corporation.

The reason for the delay has not been related to code issues. More on that after the 0.8 release. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the update!

I believe this should also be posted on the MozillaZine Front Page.

Changelog?

Post by Flashman »

I hate to sound like a thickie, but I've never been able to find a changelog for Firebird - is there anywhere I can see what's new in 0.8?

Looking forward!

Seems upgrading from 0.7 to 0.8 without loosing one's settings / bookmarks requires some preparation; not an automated process is it? I assume some guidelines will be available to guide us through the necessary steps.

Just delete your 0.7 program folder and unzip 0.8 and your done. or backup your profile folder with mozilla backup. start a new profile and only add the files you really need like bookmarks.html, singons.txt, userchome/usercontent.css and user.js to start with a clean profile, to reduce the opportunity for weird bugs.

that can be caused by profile corruption. i tend to use a clean profile every milestone or whenever i notice a weird problem
