0.5 Release Candidate 2 Now Available

Post by mscott »

These builds will most likely become the final bits barring a major blocker that requires a last minute respin.

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/ ... 02-07-0.5/

Just a couple of changes over the RC1 bits:

1) Fix for a popular Linux crash when viewing HTML mail that trys to load the Java plugin.
2) When sending messages on OSX, check with iternet config to make sure the attachment really needs to be encoded as appledouble before sending. Otherwise, don't use apple/double.

That's it.

Thanks for giving these one last spin around the block before we push them!

Using the 2/6 build, I had the following happen with an IMAP account:

- Many of my inbox messages appeared corrupted (10 out of 16). I had already read these messages and they previously looked fine, with no corruption. Basically, parts of one message were within another message, parts of headers appeared in the message body. Many of the recent messages were messed up this way. I went immediately to the IMAP server's web interface, and these messages appeared fine when viewed on the IMAP server's web interface, so it was something with TB. To fix the problem I dragged the emails to another IMAP folder then drug them back to the inbox. Then they looked fine again. This is the second time this corruption has occured in the past week, so it isn't specific to the 2/6 build.

- Using new, updated offline extension... Even after downloading all messages, all the messages in the inbox would not display after going offline, saying they had not been downloaded. Repeating the download and moving the files to other IMAP folders and back didn't help. Shutting down TB and starting back up fixed this problem. I experienced this problem immediately after the corruption problem.

Thanks for the great work!

In the two recent release candidates I get the error "Entry Point Not Found" with the message "The procedure entry point ??1nsGetServiceByContractID@@QAE@XZ cound not be located in the dynamic link library xpcom.dll." when I restart Tb after installing a new extension. But I do not notice any problems with Tb itself, I've installed the new offline extension, the get messages extension and the latest calendar extension for Tb (20040123).

The one problem I have encountered is that I cannot get the calendar extension to run. I get the message that "The ICAL component is not registered properly".

I do not see this issue with 3 IMAP accounts and the latest Release candidate with the latest offline browsing pack.

I did have trouble, but not this problem specifically, after trying to install the new offline extension over the old offline extension.

What I would suggest you do to attempt to correct these issues is to:

1. Exit Thunderbird

2. Delete the entire chrome folder from your profile.

3. Delete the .mst file asssociated with any IMAP folders you hare having this issue with.

4. Restart Thunderbird and re-install all the extensions that you had installed in your profile.

You should install each extension one at a time and restart Thunderbird for each extension install and make sure it works properly after each extension is installed before going on to the next one. That way you would know which extension is causing the error mesage. However, since you say calendar does not work I would guess that is the culprit.

I did install the extensions individually only calendar doesn't work. Also I've deleted Chrome in my profile and each of th previous Tb directories before I've unzipped new builds. Though I think your right about calendar being the cause of the problems

Same exact problem, had it in previous builds too. Almost gave me a heart attack, I thought the messages on the server were corrupted, but thankfully everything was fine. Never had this problem with 0.3, only with 0.4 and onwards....

I found a minor cosmetic issue - multiple Address Books are not alphabetically sorted in the RC2 build.
This was OK in a previous build - 0.5b (20040204)

Moved IMAP messages disappear!!!

Post by trongo »

I noticed that in the last 2 builds, IMAP messages disappear after moving from Junk box (because of false positive Spams) back to Inbox. Refresh with Get Mail did not bring them back. Close and restart TB would display the moved messages in Inbox.

Anyone experiences the same thing???

Composing & Ctrl+A on Linux + Wrong folder icons IMAP

Post by asac »

1. When composing a message on Linux, to "Select All" text is done by pressing Alt+A. This is wrong according to what is said in the Edit menu (Ctrl+A).
On Linux Ctrl+A will move the cursor to the start of the current line. So changing the Hint in the Menu on Linux would be nice.

2. I still get some older icons on some imap folders. See this screenshot (Drafts, list):

<img src="http://www.jwsdot.com/wrong_folder.png"/>

Just minor issues, but maybe simple to fix!

Thanks for the tips.

Did you mean to delete the .msf file? I don't see any .mst files.

Yes. Sorry, some days I just can't seem to type correctly. The .msf file is kind of an index of what is in the corresponding mailbox. If it is absent it will be rebuilt. It sounds form the symptoms like these may have been corrupted somehow.

CRLFs in source BREAKs patches for exotic architectures

Post by asac »

1 more somehow important:

I noticed during the build of a debian preview release that the current released source tarball contains sources that are apparently recoded to ibmpc encoding with CRLFs. I hope that this was an accident and that the regular source tarball will be encoded as usual!?

Please, <B>release</B> an official source tarball <B>without CRLFs</B> (as the last releases). Otherwise excotic architecture (alpha, hppa, mips, arm, etc.) patches won't apply seamlessly without touching them.

Thx for your support
