Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 released, plus some shady issue?

Post by Omega X »

Today Adobe released Acrobat 9 bundled with AdobeAIR.(How long until Mozilla says something about that too?)

But I find it rather odd that it asks you to install an extension when you download. It doesn't explain much about why it wants to install an extension unless its a remote install option like Java does.

Another reason to use Foxit, perhaps.... :)

I don't want or need Adobe.com or AdobeAir - can the reader be installed without that?

From the extension's install.rdf:
<em:name>Adobe DLM (powered by getPlus(R))</em:name>

@Littlemutt: Just install the whole package (it's going to anyway - no choice given) then remove both Acrobat.com and Adobe AIR from Add/Remove Programs.

^ Same goes for Comodo Firewall when the installer tried to stealthy connect to the AdobeAIR server.

You can get the Adobe Reader 9 without AIR or adobe.com at ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.0/enu/AdbeRdr90_en_US_Std.exe

Cheers!

(I know this is a really late response, but I figured others may like to have an unbundled installer. :)
