Another New Throbber

Post by Cannikin »

Took a few ideas from various posts and came up with this puppy. Used some of the experimental art from the guys that designed the logo in the first place ( http://www.hicksdesign.co.uk/journal/ar ... 000377.php )

I really wanna add a couple steps showing him actually turning his head, instead of it just snapping over. Also smooth out the lens flare and maybe have a couple planets going by before we return to the earth/fox. Not sure if I like the pause between him coming full frame and turning his head ... maybe smooth that out as well. Let me know what you guys think!

To change your throbber, add this to your userChrome.css file:

Code: Select all

 #navigator-throbber {
list-style-image: url("file://c:/program files/mozilla firefox/throbber.gif") !important;
}
#navigator-throbber[busy="true"] {
list-style-image: url("file://c:/program files/mozilla firefox/throbber-ani.gif") !important;
}

Here's the fox with his head turned if anyone wants it. :)

This is the best, most original throbber I have seen yet.

Finally... one that isn't the fox rotating around the globe, or the globe turning.

Theres still something about it, even if its the best I've seen.

That is such a kick-arse throbber. I'd probably use it had it not been for the black background. I realize such a background is necessary, but when stationary it just doesn't look right. :\ Be sure to post the updated versions if you smooth things out. :D

Unfortunately, even as good as it is, I doubt Fx devs will actually include it. I've a feeling they will only include things made by the new branding team, and nothing more, even if you make better.

That's pretty sweet looking.

Though I wonder, aren't throbbers generally cyclic? Don't they usually end up where they started, so the animation appears continuous? That's what I think is missing from the designs I've seen so far. This one definately is a good looking step in the right direction!

EDIT: Nevermind, it is cyclic. D'oh!

Looks a bit like the old Netscape throbber. Nice.
Trainable is to cat as ability to live without food is to human.

in my opinion this head (below) doesn't fit in the default icon (art-wise).

Yeah, the head might be a little too wide ... hmm

If it had a transparent or lightly-colored background, I would use this in a heartbeat.

by far the best throbber untill now

Post by tomasio »

in my opinion at least. i like the way it changes from the rotating fox zooming into the fox's eye. that avoids the usual "spinning-globe"-aesthetics i still recognized in the former suggestions. anyway, i would like something like the trampling dinosaur claw as seen with the throbber in the "orbit blue" theme.

yours,

This is by far the most original throbber. If the background were a lighter color, I would switch to this one in an instant!
