I don't use Thunderbird but am considering it. What does it do by default when you have a message open and delete it?

It opens the next message. If it's the last message, the window closes. I used to have to delete a message, see the next message loading, and then click close. I wanted something that would delete and close in one shot without opening the next message (therefore leaving it unread).

Yes I've been looking for something like this but couldn't find an option or anything in Thunderbird.

I'll get and try it out. Thanks!

Oh I see. Thanks! I'd definitely use your extension if I were to switch to Thunderbird.

If this extension is working well, I think I'll make an extension, something like "Do and Close" which'll add not only a Delete and Close button, but Reply and Close, Reply All and Close, and Forward and Close. Also wanted an option to hide the "and Close" text for the button labels and an option to bring main mail window into focus after you Delete and Close but not sure if that's possible.

If you'd like, I could probably make a "Delete Thread!" button.

Above the URL for what we need to add an extension to http://extensionroom.mozdev.org
This one is taken from the Fire* pages, but the same goes for Thunderbird.

I'm working on version with a few bug fixes and a major new feature...I'll submit it when I get this implemented as I don't want people going through upgrade troubles...can't wait to see the reaction on the new feature. :)

Bump for new version. If someone could help, I can't seem to figure out why the Select SMTP! button doesn't show up correctly in the Compose window.

I have just tried installing Buttons 0.3a on Windows 2000 with Thunderbird 0.5, used with a single POP3 server.

It doesn't seem to do anything.

For example, when all my messages are marked as read, the B and F keys work as expected, the buttons do nothing. If I mark a few messages as unread, then the buttons jump to the next/prev unread message. i.e. base behaviour

Similarly, when I view a message and then click on reply, I get a new compose message - the old message windows is still open.

Any ideas?
Peter
