Arg, no need to be secretive... I am going to start making a thunderbird theme. Hopefully by the end of the week I will be to the same level as the firebir..err...fox theme.
ozphactor, <img src="http://www.alazanto.org/lebreeze/throbber16-anim.gif"/> what do you think?
whew...thunderbird is quite an expansive application...

I am going to start making a thunderbird theme.
Why, that's enough reason for me to start using Thunderbird more!

Very nifty. I know you've "halted production" of your Fx theme for now (;)), but when you have the time, I'd love to see either a transparent GIF version (just switch all the currently light grey pixels to transparent), or an MNG version (*drools*).
Great work, and thanks again for bringing such a wonderful theme to Firefox (and soon to Thunderbird)!

I sure have a lot to learn too... I wonder if that whole effort is done on a volunteer basis? It is interesting, however, to see all the macintosh apps adopting next/openstep isometrics.
Here is an old gem by apple:

And, of course, BeMail

Not to mention NextStep (which most resembles apple's new app)

Funny you should mention that... another awesome theme by someone named Kevin. Although I believe they have more than one person contributing towards Pinstripe.

I love the new throbber but prefer the old icons for bookmarks and folders
So do I. The new folder icons bug me, mainly because they're too small to see what they symbolize. The open folder state looks like a folder with a half lopped off of it. Is that what you were going for? And what's that hanging out of the closed folder? It looks like a postage stamp, though I'm pretty sure it's meant to be a bookmark (?)

hmm... I'll keep working on those...
For now, the old ones can be brought back by changing the folder-item.png to folder-item.gif in the CSS or ... I have the old icons embedded in the psd. I was trying to go for greater consistency with the bookmark manager icons - the globes need work through. Right now, however, I am drawing thunderbird icons. Consistency is more difficult than it looks.

I made a few icons, and can now show them since the internet is up again! Is this an alright direction? I decided to go with 24 x 24 icons because of their slightly greater complexity. However, I will also have smaller icons later on. I seem to be going different directions with the icons - some sharp and full of contrast, some photo-like and some in the middle. I'm not sure what I want to settle on for the overall Lebreeze look and feel, however.
I suppose everyone can imagine where I got the inspiration for these... Oh yes, if anyone is interested, the bit of text is set in Neue (noy-ah) Helvetica #57 Condensed.
Finally, I need to mention that all this work is copyleft. Use it, please. I have the PSD is you ask.
update: Wow, PINE is so great...no icons whatsoever...just beautiful ASCII!

teaser!!!!
In reality, the theme is really really rough around the edges. (notice the shabby column headers and wide spacing on the toolbar) However, I am happy to say that I should be able to easily reach my Friday deadline. After Friday, I will start making some nice refinements beyond the default interface.
Oz, thanks for your input on the clip! I will experiment a bit later on with different styles.
