I'm planning on redesigning many of these elements.
Interestingly, it seems as if the pinstripe team is betting on mozilla t have anti-aliased, rounded rects. We can only hope for such capability of the engine.
This theme, I should warn, isn't going to be a duplicate of pinstripe, however. I'm going for a different style. In saying that, I really do like the rounded rects look.

I don't think that'll happen anytime soon. Gecko's -moz-border-radius rendering is still pretty rough around the edges (literally). The only way to get that anti-aliased look now is through an image hack.
That said, I don't think rounded corners would fit very well with the Le Breeze. Perhaps a future variant, eh?

Here is my progress today. Thoughts?
Oz, what do you think of this implementation of rounded corners? It is actually surprising how many similarities this theme has to the new pinstripe theme. This seems to be the direction I am taking lebreeze as a whole. I know I will need to do work to bring greater consistency between the mail and web client once this little project is over with. (I'll probably do that this weekend along with post-release refinements.)
Question... Edit: fixed.

Wow that will be my thunderbird theme as soon as you release it, I think that the recycle bin used for the junk icon doesnt really go with the theme, looks like the default icon made grey. And would it be possible to have an alternate css that has the old folder and bookmark icons, aaron, as well as other people have done this for alternate versions of their theme.

Lookin' good. The rounded corners look better than I expected.
The toolbar buttons look like they could use a tad more spacing, though, they seem a bit cramped to me. (Or maybe not, if you're the type that likes everything super-compact )
Also, the trash folder icon in the sidebar looks odd, maybe because all the other icons have sharp pixel-art-ish contrast, while the trash icon looks more subtle and realistic.

I put the following tidbit of CSS in my userChrome.css file to bring back the icons and page loading indicator:
Note that the page loading indicator will have the wrong shade of gray in background tabs, however, because the GIF used is not transparent.
EDIT: Updated the code to remove the loading tab italics style, since this brings back the throbber.
Code: Select all
#content tab { text-align: left !important; padding-bottom: 2px !important; }
#content tab[busy] { font-style: normal !important; }
#content tab label { margin-left: 5px !important; }
#content tab:not([selected="true"]) .tab-icon { -moz-opacity: 0.5 !important; }
#content tab .tab-icon { display: block !important; margin-left: 2px !important;
width: 16px !important; height: 16px !important; }

Beta Test

It works with the latest nightly too!
Regarding the firefox comments...hmmm...I'm almost to the point where I can give the old theme a little TLC. I will add CSS files to bring back the old folder and bookmark icons. I will redraw the current ones (to look like bookmarks) and will also have a CSS file for returning status indicators to the tabs. Yes...later... I need a break now.
Regarding the trobber, I should be able to hack together some CSS using a bunch of > symbols so that it uses different throbbers for different tab states. I will experiment with it later.
And the junk icon... Any recommendations? I would be happy to try something different since the recycle bin metaphor is a bit tired.

Hi springofdark,
I find this very interesting: I loaded your T-Bird into my 0.5 Milestone and it worked super---on everything but my compose window icons. There I got the Qute icons all mashed around (you know? bits and pieces between the icons?), and not the default LeBreeze icons at all. I was like, "Whoa! This sure is interesting!" I tried uninstalling/re-installing the theme a few times thinking that might be it, but still with the same results. Since no one else has reported it I take it that for some reason it must be me. Oh well, I can always wait until the next update and try that. But I thought I should at least make you aware of what this did on my system/version, etc.
Overall, however, the theme is just as impressive as your Firefox one---and what an excellent compliment to each other! Throw them together with the "Externalapp Extension" and you've made one of the perfect-looking themes for T-Bird/Firefox, and a great combo "mini-Suite"! You rank right up there with Aaron, CatThief and Lynchknot IMHO. And I don't pass that sort of praise out lightly as I consider those Three to be "The Masters". Time to make room for yet a 4th occupant in the "Hall of Great Gecko Themers" = springofdark!
My 2½¢ worth. User mileage may vary.

"L'Peau-Rouge"
(P/S: Pardon if anything didn't sound "quite right" or I describe "funny"---English is my second language and it shows sometimes when I'm fatigued.)

Thank you for your kind words Eyes! They mean quite a lot. I couldn't have made these themes without all of your help!
I will look into the theme issue on your computer. I haven't come across it, but I have come across many other bugs that have since been resolved in the official release. I would be curious to hear about what your experiences are with installing the latest version.
Otherwise, I didn't notice any issues with your use of the English language. Mastering a second language as (I believe) you have is certainly something to be prideful about.
In other regions of the world, I finally got the time to update the firefox theme. The old bookmark icons are back, and I redrew the folder icons (which now show a true open state) Everything blends well with the toolbar, but if you would like, I can write up the CSS for returning to the old icons. As for loading states in the tabs...I now have loading tabs' titles style as italic. I will experiment a bit with the throbbing before I announce anything.
Oh yes...as for the bookmarks menu in Firefox...I simply cannot understand why the arrows won't show up. This may take some time to resolve...if anyone could lend a helping hand, I would be most grateful!
Since releasing the thunderbird theme, I added several new icons (for folders and servers and such) and tried cleaning up some existing ones. The trash icon, in particular, should appear a bit sharper. The only major bug that remains in the theme is in the layout selector groupbox in the prefs. The radios don't show up for the last two selections. In addition, I created a basic template for the "account central" pages.
Future revisions will include larger margins in the toolbar buttons (selected under the large toolbar preference) and better support for graphical smilies...along with more icons, notably for the account central pages.

Whew! I finally feel like this project is coming to a close... If anyone wants to port this to Opera...be my guest.
