Stop Firefox Start Page Tab

How do you keep firefox start page from opening a tab at the same time as the page you want for default that you use all the time ?

Do you have the "default" set in the Home Page settings field under Tools->Options->Main->Home Page? If you do, remove the "default" page from there and set it up as a Bookmark Toolbar item so you can click on that rather than on the Home button.

how do i uninstall this on my computer. i went to the control panel to uninstall and it says to close firefox. well how do i do that as i don't know how to even open it.

Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' symbols.

I switched to "use bookmark" for home page in tools/options/main and that worked. The firefox tab doesn't come up even when I click the home button.
