Donno, didn't see anything about it on mozilla.org or mozdev and nothing poped up on on the first page of a Google search.

www.salamander.com seems avalable too

There is a webbrowser called "Salamander" check out site:

My suggestion is:
"fastlight" or "fast'n light"

Hmmm. Sausage made from a nasty child . . .

I was not sarcastic, (even if I find it funny )
I really Don't Know What is Bratwurst

Bratwurst sounds good, Pop up seen as "Brat"
Tabs make the web cutting the web, big sausage, in slim bit, and "it tastes better when it's slim"

Well why not Bratwurst ?

You were not very friendly when you posted this question. though I cannot blame you, ...

late at night, awaken by nightmares, myself I am haunted by this " What will Phoenix new name be... have I do my duty in this quest... We do not find it for months, now ...Whyyyyyy" then my wife awakes and beats me to "shut up your damn mouth, and leave f... internet alone ! "...

Chimera is an ugly name, gives image of something not very important, it is female, so...
Phoenix is a noble animal, have been symbol of Antic Rome you know, the myth comes thru several civilizations, and some authors compared it to JC , HayZOOS. You can find similar myths even in civilization wich are not Indo europeans, like aztecs, called QuetzalCoatl then.

So coming from such a great name it is the one reason why replacement is difficult.

Chimera "how many divisions" ?
Phoenix has been spread across the PC users world, when Chimera unfortunately, ;) , was limited to Apple.
And as you know the more you have advices the longer it is to pick the good one.

Chimera, Chimera is an edge in Apple world, where, let me say it, average level is a quite a bit better than in Windows PC world, so Mozilla's community should not let it down, and push it , fight

Phoenix is the best browser in 0.5 version (for me it is since 0.3 ) ; it gains everyday new users
under this name... suppose it changes now, it will disturb in fact.
So let us wait to release at once :
- new name
- great weight lessen (important, imagine... millions of downloads)

To conclude :
- I do not know a damn of why this story has no end
- I throw some trolls in that post, could you find them ?
- No !!! the fact that 2 or 3 of the main devs are gone or paused for personnal reasons have nothing to do with this delay.
- Don't you like it, this playground field ? no day without a smile or a laugh

GO why not ,
though it is very short and I would be afraid it would be taken for Google .

But that is only my point of view

Yes the photo was post in that goal , not by me, unfortunately this great image has gone.

Yes too much choices. That could be another TOO MUCH GOOD CHOICES.
or simply
GOOD CHOICE

TO GO ,
as GO alone is "dry", TO GO is smoother
What is your browser ?
My browser is "to go".
It is even worst, because the program fits you so close, you sense your web navigation directly, without it, free.
GO is an order, it commands you to be fast, throw you out of the plane for the jump,
TO GO permits you whatever you want, it is your rules - and it is more the way I see it.

See :
GO to the Zoo - you are the animal in cage
TO GO to the Zoo - you are a visitor

On another side TO GO sounds as THUG, a bit,
and THUG is a Killer name ;)

My vote for "TO GO" (aren't you afraid by my example ?)

Edit : The sexist flavour is to take in a second-degree, as the main part of the post
except That I prefer "TO GO "
I am not beaten, and I do not think that any gender is superior or not,
just in case

My suggestion:

Lindwurm : old german word for dragon (althought big and scary, dragons are supposed to be smaller than the creature from a certain japanese trash horror movie. And dragons certainly are dangerous to explorers :-)

It had been said it the earliest time of the thread that

"Lintworm" is the Dutch word for tapeworm. Hardly fetching. :)

Mozilla was Mosaic Killer => Mo'killa' => Mozilla right ?

Si if Phoenix wants to be the IE Killer, it should be called IE Killa' => Iakela => "Akela" (which happens to be the King of the wolves in the Jungle Book)

If Phoenix was made for old Germans folks, it would be a great name. But for 99% of Internauts it doesn't mean anything. It will be very difficult to convince IE users, even German ones, to switch to Phoenix. What would be your selling pitch : Lindwurm means "dragon" therefore is a "good Web browser"?

GO is great name. It's universal ("stop" and "go" are the two verbs most understood by non-English speakers). It's fertile (It's extremely easy to create catchy sales pitches with GO). It's esthetic (It's a graphical artist's dream. It's visually, naturally, well balanced). It's short (You can use it even if you are very lazy). It's unambiguous (It's prononced the same way in every languages). It's positive (It doesn't have a pessimistic connotation). It's active (It's an action verb. You automaticly feel as if you can do something usefull and reach out to the world). etc.

I like the "Akela" suggestion :)

As for "Go", I think the browser needs a name, not an adj.

With GO alone you have more opportunities to make slogans or logos :

GO to ....
GOing ....
GO is good...
1, 2, 3, GO!
loGOs...
GOers...
A browser fit for the GOds...
GOld edition
GO to hell IE!
GOgo freaks...
Have you GOt it?
GO for more
GOspel...GOspell
Etc.

You can make plugins, extensions, with :

GO-kart (payment cart)
GOndola
GOlf (game)
GOrgeous (image plugin)
GOre (popup killer)
GOrilla
GOwn (skins)
etc.

You can call the Phoenix forum "GOssip", the developpers "GOvernors", the Phoenix team "GOvernement" etc...

And it doesn't prevent you to use your "to GO" formula...
