BlueFyre: W32 2004-05-09 AthlonXP (O2/G7/GL/SSE, .NET 2003)

Post by BlueFyre »

These are all Trunk Builds.

I built Mozilla Firefox from CVS with MSVC++ .NET 2003 using some optimisations.

Optimised for Athlon XP and some newer Durons with SSE (-O2 -G7 -GL -arch:SSE):
http://pryan.org/firefox/BlueFyre/Firef ... GL-SSE.zip (~7.80MB - zip)
http://pryan.org/firefox/BlueFyre/Firef ... -GL-SSE.7z (~5.6MB - 7z)
The above build will work on systems that support the SSE instruction set ONLY.

[Note] Extracting will make a folder named Firefox

checkout start: Sun May 9 08:30:21 PDT 2004

I should note that I can't guarantee that these builds will work with Windows 95 (Microsoft has removed Windows 95 as a target platform on their .NET 2003 version of development tools), but they will work with Windows 98/NT4 or better, and probably on Windows 95 too.

You can find a copy of these builds (and my older builds) on pryan's mirror:
http://pryan.org/firefox/BlueFyre

My .mozconfig is as follows:

. $topsrcdir/browser/config/mozconfig
ac_add_options --disable-tests
ac_add_options --disable-debug
ac_add_options --enable-optimize="-O2 -G7 -GL -arch:SSE"
ac_add_options --enable-static
ac_add_options --disable-shared

My builds have the following preference set:
pref("general.useragent.vendorComment", "BlueFyre");

I've included a copy of my .mozconfig in the build folder itself.
For more on what the optimisation switches do see this link:

Fast and smooth as always. Great build! And the new icons are cool, too.

Thank you very much. Keep on building! :-)

I D/L'd 05-09 and could not execute it as I don't have 7Zip on my system.
Is there a possibikity you could make your 7Zip builds self extracting like Scrags and TierMann?

It would save me about 10 minutes or more on my dial up.

Hey Bluefyre,

In order to minimize the startup time when starting Firefox from an outside URL (Trillian)
I have begun to auto-start Firefox on machine startup, minimized to tray. In the
minimized state it uses only about 1600k memory and since it is pre-loaded, my time
from URL-click to site-open is greatly reduced.

My question:
Is there a way or registry hack to make Firefox minimize to the system tray?
I have tried adding "MinimizeToTray" to the registry but it doesn't work.
I have also tried "Tray-It" but it doesn't recognize the taskbar button correctly.

Is there something in the prefs.js or user.js that might accomplish this?

Thanks

You could download IZArc, a freeware utility which decompresses 7-Zip.

Get 7Zip from SourceForge. Much better then WinZip & WinRar.

I decompressed a server utility compressed as .zip and recompressed as 7-Zip; the compressed size went from 820MB down to 580MB. I was suitably impressed.

Why? BlueFyre obviously has 7-Zip and could just as easily format his 7-Zip builds as self extracting executables, Why shoud I, or anyone else download an app that will be used for one specific thing. I don't zip things, so I have no need for it.

Huh?

7Zip was a suggestion.
I guess it comes down to if the builder wants to make it self extracting, it is up to them.
No one said anyone has to DL 7zip.
It was mentioned by me as an alternitive to those without compression software.
