The Official Win32 20040607 [Br/Tr] builds are out.

Firefox 0.9 RC1 is expected on 2004-06-08
Firefox 0.9 Milestone is expected on 2004-06-14

Windows has a new theme as of today.
I would appreciate if you would NOT discuss what you hate/like about them in this thread.
If you don't like the new ones, replace it with another theme (as soon as that option properly works).

I haven't posted for a while because I've been very busy with the 1.0 Branch, the 0.9 bug list, and other things. Here are some updates:

* The new Extension Manager is working quite well. I've fixed a few bugs but it seems there's nothing showstopping so far. Please continue to test this feature on the branch, and file bugs and nominate for .9 if you run into any problems.
* I've been charging through the 0.9 bug list and now it's down to 8 blocking0.9+ bugs. If you know of any serious bugs that you think should block this release, please nominate them!
* The updated products site and release notes are pretty much ready.

A request - please focus extension testing efforts on the branch builds, none of this is enabled on the trunk yet due to code review delays so by using the trunk you're wasting your time since that's not the code we're going to be shipping with 0.9 or 1.0

I'm looking forward to 0.9 despite my expectations of staying on the trunk like I did with 0.8, simply because the trunk should be getting the new EM and other nifty changes checked in around the same time as 0.9's release. :D

Read the quote at the top article ;-)
I just added it to prevent this thread turning into a hate/love discussion about a new theme.

Don't count on that to happen soon.
The Trunk has NO priority untill we get close to 1.0 milestone (september).

How do they expect to get RC1 and the release ready quickly if most of the work of the past few days have been on trunk with about 17 branch bugs? Also will they have something sorted out for the new profile locations for those on the old 0.8 or early nightlies?

It's not something for us to worry about ;-)

"Yes, the themes (Win/Linux) are changing again (for legal reasons)."

I'm not saying anything about the like or dislike of the new theme but...
Why are you guys changing over to a theme that is not original by any means and might even trigger Apple taking legal action?

Would it not be best to have someone come up w/ an original theme and not a copy of the Aqua UI?

naddieuk: Those trunk checkins are from SeaMonkey developers, not Firefox ones. Also, Peter's list of bugs is not necessarily the same ones targetted for 0.9

10.000.000 Firefox users, 10.000.000 opinions, that's why I don't want the theme discussion here.
It has been decided and implemented, take it or leave it, simple.

Thy Fox will look from thy shadows,Thou Shall Feel thy cunning will.
I use nightlies Trunk Builds, I will ask Trunk Question and post Trunk Bugs ONLY. Please do not tell me "Using Branch build here, everything works fine.".DUH.

I noticied since yesterday's trunk builds all my bookmarks that have an apostrophe in them, whether in the name or description get corrupted names with junk put in place of the apostrophe. Happens with a clean bookmarks file too. Just a 'heads up' to some of you out there. :(

I think they did develop an original theme or at least it is a derivative work based on an open source.

You can read all of the rants and whines you can stomach about the new theme here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=82385

Like Peter said: please keep it out of this thread.

Works for me (no quotes) using :
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040607 Firefox/0.8.0+ ZIP / BEAST
clean profile/clean FF dir

[edit] ahh, I see, it's a TRUNK issue, not BRANCH [/edit]
