I am sure this is easy, but I have no knowledge of how to do this. I've looked into all the Options and cannot figure this out.
You know, a word to T-Bird developers. It would be nice if when coming to these forums for help, if one could 'Copy & Paste' from inside the Tools> Options window. What's up with having to type everything out?
Thanks for any help

No developers here, just other users like yourself. "MozillaZine is not run by the Mozilla Foundation and is not an official part of the Mozilla project."
What problem are you having? Is it messages in the Trash folder that are "auto deleting" or the Trash folder itself?

Thanks, no just the messages. And I've checked every setting I am aware of. Any ideas?

Re: How do I stop auto delete of Trash folders???
Thanks Dan, am going through the list. One of the things I tried was choosing one of my email addys, right-click on Trash> Properties> General Information> Rebuild Index, then clicked OK, then tossed an email, closed T-Bird & reopened, the email had been deleted from Trash.
emanresu, thanks I have had the 'Retention Policy' set to' Don't delete any messages' since day 1, even through all of the updates of T-Bird, so I have to believe now that there must be some file, somewhere, which is causing this. If I click the checkmark for 'Server Default's, in a faded screen, I can still see that the radio button for 'Don't delete any messages' is still selected.
Any other ideas? I am hoping now that someone has had experience and can direct me into a folder where Imight delete something???
Thanks guys

Re: How do I stop auto delete of Trash folders???
First, backup your Profile ( http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup )
Create a new sub-folder under Local Folders. Move any messages currently in your Trash (and that you wish to retain) to that new subfolder.
Confirm that you have made the recommended backup of your Profile.
Close Thunderbird and navigate to your Profile folder. Delete both the file Trash.msf and the file Trash with no extension.
Restart Thunderbird and you should find a new, empty Trash folder in place. Copy any messages you want to have in your Trash from the sub-folder created above to the Trash folder. Compact the Trash folder after those messages are copied in.
