Can't open https website

Post by esor »

I can't open https website with my firefox, such as gmail.google.com, but it could be open in internet explorer. It always says timeout. But the non https websites are all ok. I can open the www.mozilla.org but not the addon.mozilla.org. What's the matter and how can I fix it.
I have chosen the three security options, ssl2, ssl3 and tls. And my firefox is simplified chinese edition, 1.0.1. Thanks for your help

Could this be a firewall issue? (dunno, just a wild guess)

No, I can open it with the IE at the same time.

Bump

Fresh windows XP load, fresh Firefox 1.0.3 and I can't hit any HTTPS sites either.

It comes aback with an error message of "<sitename> could not be found." I know the site is up because I can hit it with IE

I have even tried the IP address of the page https:// 140.211.166.205 (addons.mozilla.org) and still can't open it but with the IP address I get a timeout error, and I know that's wrong as well.

Any suggestions?

Try changing the settings in Tools > Options> General > Connection Settings.

Check your security settings: Tools > Options > Advanced > click Security > check the boxes for SSL and TLS
Scroll down and click Validation > under OCSP select "Do not use OCSP for certificate validation". click OK

Now that you've installed another version of FF, remove the previous one from your firewall program, and let it discover the new program. It will ask your permission for internet access.

OMOnaija,

This topic is almost 4 years old. Please post a new topic for your question.

Also, this site is support for Mozilla Firefox / Mozilla Seamonkey. You seem to have a problem with Internet Explorer. Might I suggest an alternative site, such as neowin.net?
