Firefox 2.0.0.21?

Post by RPMozley »

Is there any interest in an unofficial update to Firefox 2.0.0.xx?

I know some of you are still stuck on Mac OSX 10.3.9 and cannot update to Firefox 3.0 as it won't work. I think I can build an update based on the Gecko 1.8.1.21 release code (Thunderbird 2.0.0.21) and would be equivalent to Firefox 2.0.0.21 if it was ever officially released.

If you build it, I'll use it :-)

(though maybe change the name to MozleyFox 2.0.21?)

Firefox 2.0.0.21rpm

Post by RPMozley »

OK then tanweileong I've added the optimised builds to the file hosting sites and are available to download there. The version number will be 2.0.0.21rpm just so everyone will know it's not an official release.
Let me know if you see anything weird with the build, I don't think there will be anything but you never know.

Posting with it now! :-) thanks!

Haven't run into any problems (don't expect any either, but if I do I'll drop you a note?)

(BTW will you be building Camino 1.6.7 as well?)

Firefox 3.0.9

Post by RPMozley »

My optimised builds of Firefox 3.0.9 are available now.
Unfortunately I am unable to upload the DMGs to the SaveFile hosting web site, so they are only available from the alternate host MediaFire.

Hiya,

I just tried and had a problem with mounting the 7450 version - the DMG does not mount (I get a "codec overrun" error. The md5 of my download is: 6356da54f67402e28beff2bbac67b3ff ; I sucked it down with wget (I copied the link of "click here to download" on mediafire) and it reported 100% completion). Err, anybody else having this as well?

Hmm... Odd. The Checksum value for my local file is MD5 $E2C832819EF4CE02CA0E147800C1683C using Disk Utility. I'll check things out later with MediaFire.

I just tried downloading again, on a different machine, and it's the same problem (and the md5 hash is again, as above). I don't think it's a problem on my machine; it's possible the Mediafire upload is corrupted (at least for the 7450 version)

OK tanweileong,
I've reuploaded the 7450 dmg, hopefully it will be ok this time.

Hi RPMozley,

the new DMG downloads, mounts, and I am using the 3.0.9 now, thanks!

(but the md5 is 7e3109cf92571131a57372a62daf64c3 , not what you posted above?)

What program are you using to get that Checksum?
