How to display pictures in thunderbird?

Post by vince47232 »

Hi,

I don't find the option to display pictures in thunderbird, specially for html email. I have a rectangle instead with a red or green little circle.

I have already tried:
- View > Message Body As > Original HTML
- Tools > Options > Advanced > [Uncheck] Block loading of remote images in mail messages (under Privacy)

Any idea?

Thanks by advance.

Is the mesage marked as junk? Try to set is as not junk: "Message | Mark | As Not Junk"

The emails in question are just newsletters. There is no problem to read text, but there is blank rectangles instead of images. Thunderbird maybe tries to load them from the Internet? But I have no option as 'Block loading of remote images in mail messages'. There is no problem to read theses kinds of emails with Netscape or Outlook.

Yes, but Thunderbird does not load remote imgaes if the message is marked as junk. That's why you should check if it's marked as junk.

The message is not marked as junk. It is a normal email, the only difference with others emails is that it is a newsletter.

Can you see the image if you load the URL in your browser? Maybe the image link is broken.

Yes, the differents images can be load when I 'Copy Image Location'. The HTML email (newsletter) is not the problem, since there is no problem to see it in another program (Netscape, Outlook). I think it is an option of Thunderbird, but I don't find it. It is very strange.

Very strange and I am running out of ideas. Can you send me the message source (View | Message Source") as Private Message so I can have a look?

I just wanted to pipe up and mention that I am having the same problem. I DO have Thunderbird set to not display images on Junk messages (very smart option!) but it doesn't display images for ANY HTML messages. HTML messages seem to be working in other way (ie formating, background colors, etc.), just no images.

I have not done any experimenting to see if the problem goes away if I uncheck the no-images-on-Junk box. I will try that when I get home.

I update my Thunderbird, but in fact, the error was very very stupid. The problem was that Thunderbird could not "load message", ie the images of the HTML email (newsletter for example). I forget to configure manually the proxy server as I had made in Firefox for example.

Bookchiq, it is maybe the same problem.

Thank you everybody for your help.

I have same issue and have had inconsistent behavior. Every so often, messages will display the images & then on next viewing will not.

Watch the Addressbook option

One option in the advanced options is extra under block images, and that is Permit images if sender is in My Personal address book -> this option can explain why in certain messages images get loaded and in others no images get loaded.
