What was the last stable build without the bookmarks issue?

Post by Zeron »

What was the last stable build that didn't have the bookmarks issue? (Not able to drag items to the bookmarks, etc.)

And what about other builds that had some quirks but also didn't have the bookmarks issue?

There are probably as many different opinions as there are Phoenix users, but personally I'm very happy with March 31. March 20 also gets lots of favorable comment in these forums.

Neil: Mar 31st has the bookmarks problem, and I'm currently using the Mar 20th build. I was hoping there was a newer build without it. Grr...

Wheerdam: That (the bookmarks dragging) is the problem I'm talking about! I wanted to know the latest stable build without it. Seems like there isn't anything newer than Mar 20.

yea, I know what did you mean. In the newer builds I just make a folder called Location pending in my bookmark and bookmark everything there. Then I move them to appropriate folders when I'm managing my bookmark. But dragging a bookmark to the bookmark menu is nicer...

I am using 2003-04-01. This build doesn't have the bookmark issues AFAICT.
Kubuntu 8.04 (kernel 2.6.24-25-generic) / KDE 3.5.10
CentOS 4.8 (kernel 2.6.9-78.0.22.ELsmp) / KDE 3.5.10

The 2003-04-01 build doesn't have the bookmark bug that's regarding the "OK" dialog box not disappearing after you manually add a bookmark with Bookmarks->Add to Bookmarks. However, it still has the bookmark bug whereby you can't drag the URL icon to the bookmark or bookmark sidebar...Anything newer than 2003-04-01 has both of these bookmark bugs.

using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030401 Phoenix/0.5

.. adding bookmarks works fine (not the sidebar thing, I don't use it anyways) ;)

Actually, I just noticed that I am unable to add a bookmark to the BTF (bookmark toolbar folder) by dragging the URL icon to the BTF, using the 2003-04-01 build.

You've helped me find a workaround, though. With the regular "Add to Bookmarks" working, I can add an entry to the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder from there instead of directly dragging it from the URL bar onto the BTF. :D

That's right, but using the workaround isn't as flexible, since you'll have to manually rearrange the bookmark if you want it at some specific place other than at the bottom of the list.

That's why it's merely a workaround. ;)

Is there a Bugzilla bug already open for the bookmarks problem? Is it also broken in Mozilla?

http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199328 (has already been posted many times in this forum) is about the initial bookmarks bustage.
Some of the other problems appear in Mozilla too (for example the impossibility to save or import bookmarks).
The "add bookmarks" dialog problem is http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=200737
