while waiting (win mini-mail-app)

Post by warenhaus »

while waiting for Minotaur/Tbird to be realeased (really released, i mean), i found this little app (17.8 kb zipped), being able to function as a default mailto: handler:
http://pyric.org/qm/
quickmail, virtually NO startup time, you can register it as your default mailto: prog (see http://pyric.org/qm/qm-faq.html ). and yes, as it only SENDS mail, it has no inbox, so if you use it as default mail app without another one installed, you can save a lot of time. (not reading any mail, that is)

As someone with limited RAM, I don't like to keep Mozillamail open all the time. Quickmailer is much faster than waiting 15 seconds for Mozillamail to open or navigating into my webmail account when I need to dash off a quick note. Thanks! :)

Back in the early days of the internet, there was a web browser (might have been Spry Air Mosaic, but don't recall for sure) that had a small smtp client built in just for handling mail-to links.

I have often wondered why modern browsers don't have this feature. But using QM comes pretty close. It's a great little pgm.
