Right click to send email. Quit after Tbird update
Yesterday I was able to right click a file and choose "Send To" email and Tbird would open a new message with that file attached.
Today Tbird installed an automated update and now my right click to send to email does not start Tbird, instead it opened the "Choose Profile" box which is of no use.
How to I restore the "right click to send email" function to my right click menu?
Everything I find online just assumes I want to use Outlook...which I don't.
Windows 2K

Yeah I posted about this, this morning, not had a solution given to me yet that works.
System restore before the update is an option, but only a short term one.
I hope they fix it soon.

Re: Right click to send email. Quit after Tbird update
I run Thunderbird on Vista, and "send to mail recipient" context menu stopped working properly after update to 2.0.0.22 version.
But I have found solution.
You should check \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird in your registry.
If key DDLPath is empty, just write down there location of your mozmapi32.dll (most probably C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\mozmapi32.dll).
I hope it will work for you too.

Re: Right click to send email. Quit after Tbird update
Same for me, I just updated to a later version of Thunderbird.
Now when I right click and choose send to, Thunderbird doesn't open but Windows Mail which I never use.
I do not know what to do, and I most certainly do not want to use Windows Mail.
Please help me if possible.
Thank you in advance.

One would think the dev team would test these updates before sending them out ! How do I roll back to remove the update until they fix this bug?

Re: Right click to send email. Quit after Tbird update
I have found the mozmapi32.dll location, but I have no clue what to do with it?
What is DDLPath? Empty? You say I should check in my registry.
Sorry could you explain to a dummy?

Re: Right click to send email. Quit after Tbird update
The path was empty...I installed the path but the icon to send mail did not return to the right click menu? How do I get that Icon to return?

To Jasse:
1. Click Start
By adakash at 2009-06-23
2. enter "regedit" into command line
3. click "allow" when Windows asks to continue
4. Find \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird and clik it
5. In the right pane you should see DLLPath key
6. If it has no value, mark DLLPath, right click and choose modify
7. Enter location of your mozmapi32.dll (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\mozmapi32.dll) and click ok.

Re: Right click to send email. Quit after Tbird update
To stuffdone:
1. Click start and enter shell:sendto into command line
2. Sendto folder opens...
3. There should be MailRecipient.MAPIMail file. Probably you dont see extension, as it is Windows default setting.
4. If there is MailRecipient file, you can edit it with notepad (just pay attention to not use notepad as default application for MAPIMail file!)
5. If there is not such file, you can create one with Notepad. Just:
5.1. Make extensions visible (Folder Options> View > Uncheck "Hide Extensions for Known File Types.")
5.2. Right click onto empty folder area and choose New>Text document
5.3. Edit file and write into it: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\Thunderbird.exe -compose attachment="file://%1"
5.4. Change name to: MailRecipient.MAPIMail
6. Hopefully end of problems
You can find this solution also in: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/182378
PS. If you will accidentally set Notepad as default application for MAPIMail, then go to: \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.MAPIMail into your registry and delete subkey named UserChoice

I have 2 computers. On the XP machine it worked. Thanks!
On the Vista64 bit machine - under Mail there is no TB?! I see only Hotmail & Windows Mail. I have been using TB ever since I bought this laptop. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Re: Right click to send email. Quit after Tbird update
Did nothing new. Still no cute little envelope Icon and the new file with the path info entered does nothing at all.
My path is:
E:\Program Files\Internet\Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe -compose attachment="file://%1"
I tried to register this DLL but the error is that the file can't be found. It halts the process because of the space between "Program Files"
E:\Program Files\Internet\Thunderbird\mozMapi32.dll
