Firefox stops loading pages - due to AVAST?

Hi all,

Got a problem with Firefox, after a period of time of browsing it will just stop loading pages, when i try to load a page it says 'Stopped' in the bottom left corner. I recently installed Avast anti-virus and Zonealarm so it looks like one of these two is responsible. Quite often if i disable Avast then Forefox starts working again, but not always.

Also, if i exit firefox and start it up again i'm told firefox is already running and i must close the process. When i try to close the process nothing happens, i confirm the termination of the firefox process but it is still running.

I then have to try and restart the computer and this will take an eternity to do so i'm concerned the problem might be more deep-rooted. Anyone got any ideas?

Not likely to be Avast, but ZoneAlarm + Vista + Firefox has been buggy for some time now, find another firewall.
