Wonder if they are doing something on the servers, i.e., getting ready or adding the Namoroka (Fx3.6) branch to them and it is blocking your update attempts.

That's a possibility ofc. It would be nice to know about these kinds of events beforehand so that we would know when there is an actual problem and when it's just regular maintenance going on.

What's the big deal? Nightly update fails on a regular basis. It's really not a problem if the occasional nightly update fails as long as the release channel works, is it?

It makes a difference since it could either be a problem locally (a regression) or a problem on the server side you are unaware of. You can see how this might be an important information for testers.

Interesting, the Windows version is still branded Minefield. I thought it should be Namoroka, but I could be mistaken.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=507950 ?

When one cannot access bugzilla, this answers nothing.

Forgot about that... maybe your router does not like you for some reason. There used to be sort of a redirect link (for to tell people what not to do in bugzilla etc) to go directly to bugzilla bugs but the site has been down for a couple years now and that may have worked in your case.

Bug 507950 - Add Namoroka branding to mozilla-central

Description From Nick Thomas [:nthomas] 2009-08-02 18:43:55 PDT

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #439410 +++

mozilla-central still uses Shiretoko for the unofficial branding and should be
switched to Namoroka before 3.6a1 is created.

We'll switch the mozconfigs to unofficial branding in bug 506401.

patch - v1

Something like this?

------- Comment #2 From Gavin Sharp 2009-08-05 11:16:17 PDT -------

(From update of attachment 392753 [details])
Looks good!

Need a followup to apply the equivalent of
http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla- ... eb06993202 on the branch
once it exists.

When the 1.9.2 branch is created, I'll follow-up.

Once the 1.9.2 branch is created, we'll need:
* the mozilla-192 branch be "Namoroka"
* change mozilla-central to be whatever is the next projectname after
"Namoroka".

------- Comment #5 From Ben Hearsum [:bhearsum] 2009-08-06 05:30:39 PDT -------

Given that mozilla-central will remain "trunk" for the forseeable future, I
think we should leave it as "Minefield". We'll be creating a mozilla-1.9.3
branch, or whatever when we get ready to ship the thing after Namaroka.

------- Comment #6 From Gavin Sharp 2009-08-06 19:27:17 PDT -------

I understood John's comment to mean "change unofficial branding on
mozilla-central to be whatever the next code name is", rather than "change the
default branding away from the nightly/minefield" like we do on branches. Since
we don't know what the next one is going to be called, and since we don't plan
on branching again in the near future, I don't think we actually need to worry
about that :)

Does that mean the trunk (Gecko 1.9.3a1pre) will remain as Minefield and new branch (Gecko 1.9.2a2pre) will become Namoroka?

The Trunk has always been called Minefield ever since about mid-April 2006. Bug 308973 - Rebrand Firefox trunk and 1.8 branch builds to avoid confusion

Thanks, I thought that was the case but I was a bit confused by the comments made in the bug.

James, great piece of history. Thanks. Do you have a good memory or how did you dig this bug up?

It seems that the ACID3 test 71 has been modified to work according to Mozilla's interpretation of the HTML 5 specification. Therefore, trunk builds now score 97/100 if you set the following 2 preferences to true in about:config (of course test rules say only points scored using default preferences count):

html5.enable
svg.smil.enabled

BTW-I am still not able to get my 2nd computer's copy of Minefield to update to the 20090813 nightly. Should release engineering or whomever be notified of this?

EDIT: I was able to update this copy before they branched Namoroka off of Trunk (or whatever it was that happened yesterday).

Never mind my previous post. I just now downloaded today's nightly.

Today's build: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a2pre) Gecko/20090814 Minefield/3.6a2pre Firefox/3.5.2 - Build ID: 20090814044415

The version bump appears to not have landed yet.

I think it does. You need to download the 3.7a1pre build manually. I recall something similar when switching from the 3.0.x branch to the 'trunk branch' a few months ago. You couldn't switch from one branch to another using the automatic updates and had to download a build manually from a branch to get in the automatic update process.

Anyway, now using the latest trunkbuild: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.3a1pre) Gecko/20090814 Minefield/3.7a1pre ID:20090814043501

More info:

mozilla-central, mozilla-1.9.2 nightly builds (ATTN: nightly users)

Because of the major version bump in mozilla-central, all users of mozilla-central nightlies will be bumped to mozilla-1.9.2 nightlies today. If you want to continue to track the Firefox 3.6 / Gecko 1.9.2 builds no action is required. If you want to track the post-1.9.2 version or absolute “trunk” of Firefox/Gecko you will need to download today’s mozilla-central nightly build, found in the nightly area of the ftp server.
