[Ext] OpenDownload² 4.2.0I am running FF 3.5.3 on Windows Vista. When I attempt to open an .xls file FF just downloads it w/o question. Although if I double-click the downloaded file in will automatically launch OpenOffice. Is there something I am missing?
Do you have a link to that file so I can perform some tests with it?
Yes. I have a demo program that you will have to create an account for. Once you get a password, log in and notice the Excel icon on the top right. Click it and you will get an XLS file. Thanks for looking into it.
http://www.othenos.com/metalsmith_demo/ ... smith.html OK, I'll try it elsewhere then.
![]() (Don't actually want to register anywhere...) Maybe it depends on the created xls file? A .zip file, for example, works fine here... OK. I created an account for you "guest@othenos.com", password "12345'. It will only be good for today then I'll disabled it.
Works for me. I presume you just accidentally ticked the "Always do this" checkbox...
![]() Perhaps. If so, do you know how to undo the "Always Do This" checkbox? There is dialog anymore.
never mind. I figured it out. Go to Tools->Options->Applications. Find "Microsoft Works Spreadsheet" (in my case) and then change the Action to "Always Ask" or in my case "use scalc.exe"
Thanks for your help. No problem
![]() Even with the Nightly Tester Tools installed, I can't get a run option to appear with Minefield aka Firefox 3.7a1pre.
![]() I haven't tested it with Fx3.7 builds yet, as pre-alpha builds may still change a lot anyway. I will start testing it when there's a beta version available.
Released v2.1.2, added sv-SE locale and bumped compatibility. When 3.6b1 is released, I will check if everything's still fine.
J4I: It doesn't work in recent 3.6b1-pre nightly versions! I tried to install OpenDownload in FireFox 3.5.3 and it fails saying that "It is not valid install package".
Simon Hum, can anyone else confirm that?
I think I found the problem. I did not first"Check" the box that says "Let me to install this experimental addon". I just clicked the button to download then then when it tried to install it gave the error message. This time I "Checked' the "Let me..." box first and the download button turned green and then it installed without problem. What I want to know is why does the Mozilla add-on page allow you to download the addon whether the box is checked or not. There is no warning that installation will fail if the box is not checked.
