Sorting in the account view (left) pane

Post by forrie »

Would it be possible to add a feature to allow you to manually change the order in which accounts appear in the left pane in Thunderbird?

That's a Firefox extension warning, not Thunderbird. You are trying to install it in the wrong program.

Extension and Theme Install Instructions for Thunderbird Users:

(1) Right-Click the link for the extension or theme download and choose "Save Link As..." to download and save the file to your hard disk.
(2) In Thunderbird, open the extension or theme manager (Tools Menu/Extensions or Themes in 1.5.0.x and earlier, Tools>Addons in 2.0)
(3) Click the Install button, and locate and select the file you downloaded and click "OK"
(4) Close and reopen Thunderbird to finish the install

That does not change the way that you install extensions. It may mean that the extension is not compatible though.

Since you are using the beta test build, I will move this to Thunderbird Builds where the test builds are discussed.

Do you have multiple personalities? :D :D I found this thread: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=636977&p=3292622&hilit=secure+updates#p3292622 in which you actually commented and added to a solution to this problem!

After multiple tries, I did get it to display the options but it still didn't work.

Nope. Seems to be a common issue with many valuable T'Bird extensions (e.g., "Contacts Sidebar"). There is a desire to have users migrate to 3.0 Beta builds, but the extension developers are not onboard with their simple, yet necessary, revisions.

I've found out how to re-order the accounts manually:
Open about:config.
Search for accountmanager
Edit mail.accountmanager.accounts: reorder the accounts, where Accountn corresponds to the account in n order in your account settings.
Edit mail.accountmanager.default.account to match the first account in mail.accountmanager.accounts.

I hope this helps!
