9/10/2004version Dead Extensions list

Post by sasquatch »

I installed (1.7.3) Gecko/20040910 Firefox/0.10 (MOOX M3) and at startup, it automatically disabled the following on me.

Disabled Extensions: (6)

Adblock 0.5.2+
Bookmarks LinkChecker 0.6.8
Context Highlight 0.1
Duplicate Tab 0.2
Make Link 1.2
text/plain 1.1

Anyone have any idea where to find working versions?

Thanks.

Adblock was adjusted, moments ago: linked.

That Adblock is the same version I have from all I can tell, but it isn't very clear to find what version to use (dev?) and/or where to find it. (Install?, Dev. Builds?, ???)

sasquatch:
Since the only changes were transparent to end-users -- regarding install-metadata -- the version-numbering wasn't incremented. Basically, Adblock now uses the update.rdf-link to maintain indefinite future compatibility.
.
Just reinstall nightly 39 ( - mid-page, dev. builds).

Sasquatch, all my extensions are updated for 1.0PR and are on update.mozilla.org. Unless Ben is still working on the update system, you shouldn't need to do anything to Context Highlight. Either way, it's there for downloading, as are my others: Mozilla Update :: Extensions - Author Profile: Ben Basson

Hey, I'm just reporting the facts, no judgements. Those are the ones which came back as rejected.

I'll check your links. Thanks for the great extensions.

FYI: I uninstalled Context Highlight, restarted Firefox, then reinstalled it, and all seems OK again. Go figure.

P.S. Session Saver is also showing as disabled, but it doesn't show up in the above report, nor does it allow uninstall. Now what?

OK, I got Adblock and Context Highlight working again.

Here's what's left:

Bookmarks LinkChecker 0.6.8
Duplicate Tab 0.2
Make Link 1.2
text/plain 1.1

Session Saver (can't do anything with this one!)

I know rue is probably going to have kittens over this (as he does) but...

I can't help but wonder what exactly the cause is behind these 'refusals'. So uninstall your Session Saver and try the enhanced version that's available here [link].

All I ask is that you remember that I made this version so if any of the elements I've added cause issues, pester me and not rue.

Anyway, that said, the extension itself has a maxVersion of 5.0, I have strong suspicions that the maxVersion detection is being a bit goofy at the moment (and might've already started expecting 1.0 instead of 0.10).

If that's the case then my maxVersion of 5.0 should still get around that.

If extensions aren't installing when they should, file a bug. Ben needs the feedback right now or these issues aren't going to be fixed. I know we all want to use the latest nightlies because of the stuff they offer, but bandaiding the extension situation without filing bugs isn't helping the problem.
