Please help,
When I try to play a Youtube video on Firefox the video doesn't play but Firefox grabs anything from 90-100% of my CPU and then keeps it until I close it down. Sometimes even then it keeps the CPU busy in the background. The only way to stop this is to kill the process with the task manager.
It only started a day or so ago. Before that I could plat all videos without problems.
I'm using Vista.

Is this problem only happening with YouTube videos?
Could you post links to some of the problem videos?

Thanks for asking. The problem is with all videos on all sites. The moment you click on play it happens as described.

Re: Firefox doesn't play youtube videos
Is it really ALL videos? What about the videos here?
http://www.apple.com/trailers/
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/video/
Or, is it just all Flash videos, including the one here?
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=YouTubeHelp
If the Flash video above doesn't play without problems then try the Flash troubleshooting suggestions here:

Re: Firefox doesn't play youtube videos
Thanks
After I started FF in safe mode it played videos OK. Eventually found an add-on that was stuffing everything up. Deleted that and everything is Hunky Dory again.

If you're still here you might want to post which addon caused this problem ... so that others who may have this problem can benefit from your findings.
As you can see she's (The CAT) always alert and on the prowl for Meoware !!

Frans,
You're welcome. Thanks for posting back that the problem did not occur in Firefox Safe Mode and that it turned out to be one of your add-ons.
If you could post back with the name of the add-on that was causing the problem I could add it to
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Extension_issues and to http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions

Re: Firefox doesn't play youtube videos
Hi, I'm not the original poster, but I had the same problem.
I determined that the problematic add-on in my case was the "OneClick YouTube Downloader (ver 1.0.2)" extension (available via http://www.orbitdownloader.com and https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/13539). It also seemed to cause Firefox to stop responding upon exit.
Firefox no longer stops responding when I exit and I can now view YouTube videos without a problem since disabling and uninstalling this add-on.

Thanks.
I'll try adding that information to the KB when I can get in (right now I get a "User is blocked" error).
