I'd love to be able to use Coolpreviews (by Cooliris, see www.coolpreviews.com) on Seamonkey. It is my number 1 add-on for Firefox by a mile and a half.

turu wrote:Hello ! This is not a post asking for a customize from Fx add-on to SM compatible, but rather asking for support the idea "Let Feedly works on SM2" .

Feedly is popular modern feed reader extension for Firefox. you can read detail from here: http://www.feedly.com/

Now, despite a fact SM2 already has its own feed reader, I believe it is great idea if SM2 can have alternative with more modern style. And Feedly dev team actually starts to show interest to support SM. so if any of people following this thread interest to have new nice looking feed reader on SM, please support this idea from below link;

http://www.getsatisfaction.com/feedly/t ... eamonkey_2

original post was made on SM surpport by grzegorzjzd; viewtopic.php?f=40&t=1559825

I've just had a peek at the source code of Feedly and the changes needed are trivial (<5 minutes editing, 10 minutes testing). However....
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/versions/license/86089
The Feedly Software applications, documentation, and local computer files installed or utilized by the installer application (collectively, the “Feedly Software”) are owned by Feedly, or Feedly’s licensors and content and data providers (“Feedly Licensors”).Feedly hereby grants you a worldwide (except as limited below), non-exclusive, non-sublicenseable, limited, personal license to use the Feedly Software, provided that: (i) you will not copy, distribute, or disclose any part of the Feedly Software in any medium; (ii) you will not alter or modify any part of the Feedly Software other than as may be reasonably necessary to use the Feedly Software for its intended purpose; and (iii) you will otherwise comply with the terms and conditions set forth herein.

This EULA defines legal use of the Feedly Software, all updates, revisions, substitutions, and any copies of the Feedly Software made by or for you. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by Feedly or their respective owners.

Your license to the Feedly Software under this EULA continues until it is terminated by either party. You may terminate the EULA by discontinuing use of all of the Feedly Software and by uninstalling and destroying all your copies of the applicable Feedly Software. Upon termination for any reason, you continue to be bound by the surviving terms of this EULA. This EULA terminates automatically if you violate any terms of this EULA, including without limitation the Restrictions on Use and Ownership provisions below. Feedly may, in its sole discretion, permanently or temporarily terminate, suspend, or otherwise refuse to permit you access to the Feedly Software for any reason or no reason without notice or liability by publicly posting a written notice of termination on Feedly’s web site, or by sending a notice of termination to you.

Clause (ii) seems applicable to modifying it to install in SeaMonkey. However clause (i) means that I can't let anyone have my modified SeaMonkey version anyway. Pity because it would be soooo easy.

I helped the Cooliris guys port the original Cooliris extension to SeaMonkey 1.x so obviously they should remember how it was done. Have you emailed them to ask them for SeaMonkey 2.0 compatibility with Coolpreviews? You can point them to this article here: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Extensions_support_in_SeaMonkey_2

I was using FireFTP extensively, but, unfortunately, it does not work with SM2. Is there any similar extension, or any chance that FireFTP will be made compatible?

Another desirable extension is NoRedirect, in contrast to what was said 2 pages before, it does not work with SM2.

I was also using ShowIP before, in SM2 it installs, can change options, but does not show.

FireFTP has been on my TODO list which I've been working my way through. Basically I've been switching between modifying extensions for SeaMonkey and developing SeaMonkey itself so there will be some weeks where you don't see any extension activity from me. Also there has been a death in the family recently so I've been distracted for the last few days.

I've just put ShowIP and NoRedirect on my ToDo list but I've still got a fair bit of backlog to get through.

There is a "Session save" feature built-in but I don't trust it, so I set the Browser to load my "home page" at startup and I save the current tabs ("Use current group") as my home page just before shutdown. Also, I answer "Quit", not "Save and Quit" in the closedown dialog. (Once I answered "Save and Quit" and got all my tabs loaded twice upon restart.) Of course, this doesn't take crashes into account.[/list]

Yeah crash manager has issues too i had the same thing happen to me but this isn't the right forum to be talking about that.

Trying to run Duplicate Contact Manager 2 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/53145) on "Seamonkey" I see no menu item. Looking into xul I see it overlays <menubar id="mail-menubar">.
But DOM inspector shows me than seamonkey's address book have <menubar id="ab-menubar">.
When I edit xul to overlay ab-menubar, extension start to work.

Same with toolbar: abToolbar in Seamonkey, but extension try to overlay AddressBookToolbarPalette

What can be a minimal possible changes to get it work?

The SeaMonkey 2 Address Book doesn't have customizable toolbars yet so you need to overlay the buttons directly into the "abToolbar".

I'll have a look at this extension tonight. Then I shall have a clearer idea.

http://xsidebar.mozdev.org/modifiedmailnews.html#xnote
Note: XNote has been orphaned and hasn't been updated for Thunderbird 3.0. I've released a minor modification 2.1.1 that basically contains just enough changes to make this work in SeaMonkey 2.0. This may also work for Thunderbird 3.0 but it hasn't been tested there. I've also fixed a long standing bug that has been annoying me for ages.

Install XNote for Seamonkey 2.0+:

Doesn't the tbNotes extension for Thunderbird work for you in Thunderbird 3.0?
