The plugin for this content has been disabled

Post by bamtoy »

Hi Experts,
I have been using Firefox for many years now but now I have a problem. I get an error 'The plugin for this content has been disabled. Click here to manage your plugins' When I click on it, it shows the Adobe 9.1.0.163 Firefox plugin.
I was on Firefox 3.5.5 , then it would not open. I uninstalled and installed the new version. So I started it in safe mode after removing all the user preferences, addons, etc.
It opens now but I cannot see content on you tube. First it shows 'Get the latest Flash player'. After I install Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.32.18, I get this error 'The plugin has been disabled'. I click on it and it shows Adobe PDF plugin for firefox. I have restarted it several times but it wont work.

Anyone knows why

Thanks,
Bamtoy

Do you only see one Flash plugin on the about:plugins page and in Tools > Add-ons > Plugins?

Flash Player uninstall: http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157 (this will remove the Firefox Flash plugin and the ActiveX control for IE)
Flash Player 10: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Hi dickvl,
Thanks for your reply. I found the solution. Atleast works for now. I have re-initialised the plugin database and followed the instructions. This link shows how to do it
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Tro ... n&s=plugin.
I have deleted pluginreg.dat file and immediately Firefox works. Let me see what happens next. I consider this as closed.
