Hi, all
Is there any way to change SeaMonkey 2.0 default search engine. I'd like to use http://www.ixquick.com but see no way to add it.

Try about:config in the address line, then search for browser.default.search.url
Change this to your favorite engine.
Alternatively: Look in the seamonkey/searchplugins directory. You can find definitions for google, dmoz and jeeves. Add your own

Is there a guide somewhere to writing your own searchplugins?

hi - tried the about:config edit - seemed smooth enough and indeed when i go back it seems to have accepted the edit (to google.co.uk btw) - problem is the search bar still uses google.com?? am i missing something

You don't need to edit about:config to change the search engine; in fact, if you're using about:config, you can change it to a search engine you don't have!
Preferences -> Browser -> Internet Search is the way to go; it will give you only a choice between the search plugins on your computer.
So all you need to do now is find a google.co.uk search plugin...

Re: Change SeaMonkey 2.0 default search engine?
I think search from the location bar uses a different pref - I have the pref "keyword.url" set to "http://www.google.co.uk/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&q=" (without quotes).
