Firefox 3 5 5 crashing and certificate errors

Hi I am using firefox 3 5 5 and have loved it till now. Over the last week I have had it crash so many times I have lost count. It continually comes up with errors re invalid certificates of trusted sites ie one to name is facebook and the crashing of it maybe separate issues. I dont know???
