New KB Version, Looking for Skinner!

Post by kerz »

I have upgraded our wiki to a new version (which explains some of the small problems you can now see in the old version, sorry!) and I am looking for someone interested in helping reskin the new version of MediaWiki to look more like the site using the Wiki's default theme combined with.our wrapper. If you are interested, please comment here and I can point you at how to get started. You can see the new version at <a href="http://kb-upgrade.mozillazine.org/">kb-upgrade.mozillazine.org</a>. Thanks!

Looks much neater.. like wikipedia.
If you're not using Firefox, you're not surfing the web, you're suffering it.

Are the two versions of the wiki pulling from the same database?

If not, when we make edits to an article, which version should we make the chnages to?

Is anybody free to add things? For instance, under 'Commonly used words', 'Acronyms', can I add ER for Extension Room?

Yes, that's the point of a wiki. Anyone can put info into it.

Yes, it looks much better, even without being skinned yet. Even better, the search function on this one works great!

You can use this instead of the sunflower, until a skinner is found:

Partial effort (looks close, but no dibs):

Code: Select all

body {
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
}

a {
text-decoration: none !important;
border-bottom: 0px;
}

#globalWrapper {
padding: 5px;
}

#column-content {
float: left;
width: 75%;
}

#column-one, #footer {
margin-left: 80%;
width: 15%;
background-color: #FAF9F6;
border: 1px solid black;
font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;
font-size: .8em;
padding: 10px;
}

#column-one ul, #footer ul {
list-style-type: none !important;
padding-left: 0px;
margin-left: 0px;
}

#footer {
margin-top: 2em;
}

Are we going to have some kind of moderation, i.e. the banning of vandals? Right now it's so easy for vandals to just add the most bogus stuff to pages, and I've seen it happening on subpages of the Mozilla Materials project. I've posted the first one I came across on the page "Vandalism", with his contribs link and an example of his vandalism. There were also people adding fake languages to one of the subpages, and I'm quite sure this is vandalism, or a poor joke (which would be vandalism anyway...).

I have cleaned up a little bit of this but this doesn't mean it won't be repeated.

Anyway, I was asking if there could be some moderation, or, if possible, assign me some Sysop powers, in order to properly run the project, until it goes to SpreadFirefox.com's wiki (if they ever get one). Thank j00.

Oh yeah, and could you set up the Rewrite rules to make it prettier? Thanks

Sorry, no, http://kb-upgrade.mozillazine.org/index ... _Materials would look like http://kb-upgrade.mozillazine.org/Firefox_Materials if they added in the rewrite rules that i linked to, which, was on a page on meta, which is the official manual for the mediawiki software on kb-upgrade.

Sorry sir. You fail to read & comprehend :(
