The following extensions I think should be integrated into Firefox. miniT - Adds tab dragging with drop place indicator. OpenBook - Show bookmark folder list by default instead of hidden away with a down arrow. Sort Bookmarks - Provide an option under Manage Bookmarks to sort all bookmarks and folders. (This has just recently landed by right clicking and choosing sort folder under the root folder, get branch build 10-01-04 or later). Style Sheet Chooser - Persist style sheet choices. (This one is coming). Mozilla Archive Format - Save complete webpages as a single file. Last edited by mcm_ham on January 31st, 2005, 3:48 pm, edited 5 times in total.

I don't use any of those extensions, so I don't think they should be integrated into Firefox.

Really, I think MAF at least should be included for those from IE who are used to saving *.mht files. Does that mean you're happy with what Firefox provides by default?

I know I am happy with it as is especially when I look at other people's extension list. Usually at least half of the items I wouldn't want by default and I would prefer that the development effort didn't have to focus on adding those items while there are so many other items already in bugzilla as enhancement requests that I would like to see added. I only use OpenBook out of your list and I could live without it no problem... perhaps one day similar functionality will make it into Firefox.

I'm an extension junkie.. I have about 65 extensions which do not conflict at all with each other. I say some features would be welcome in Firefox but most of them are not necessary.
Here's my full extension list (Use CTRL++ to change text size so it won't over run the forum) Last updated: Sun, 17 Oct 2004 10:13:48 GMT User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041015 Firefox/0.10.1 (MOOX M3) *** Extensions (enabled: 64, disabled: 0): Adblock 'Button! The duplicate theme seems to stem from one of my extensions causing problems somewhere. Not sure about that. EMButtons is a nasty extension to install unless you have a certain amount of extensions already installed because of the Event Handler Bug (which is being worked on thankfully). Also a reason I use URL2NewTab instead of using the prefs in TBP is because it has an option to check if the current tab is a blank tab and it will load that url into the blank page instead of a whole new tab. I do like tabs a lot and being able to have them focus and unfocoused. Very very useful. (I also don't use TBE because I can see the performance hit on my P4 2.4 gHz computer with all that JavaScript is has utilized in the past. It was quite apparent when loading www.winamp.com) Adblock is coming off really nicely. You should import the Filterset that G updates fairly regularly and sometimes posts about it on the Adblock forums. You just import filters in Adblock for it to work. Thanks ieremiou

If you need that version of it. (unofficial version) I can upload it to my site and give you a link to it. I think Rowne made that one.
I also updated Tab X with my modified version of TabX+ which uses the code by Moonwolf that he did to have the Tab Closing Button be the themed button from the current theme and I added in the removal of the main tab closer button on the tabbar to its chrome. (Note: it works quite well and will seamlessly install over Tab X 0.3 with no trouble, I tested it myself on a clean profile. I try to test everything I have on clean profiles.) I'm pretty unexprienced I just ripped the codes apart and seamlessly put them together but I want to make prefs and otherstuff and maybe when I actually start working on it combine theses extensions together a little bit into like a Tabbar Preferences Extension or something. I dunno maybe somebody else will do it but it's a thought to give out. Last edited by ieremiou on October 17th, 2004, 3:22 am, edited 2 times in total.

If it was made by Rowne I think I found it on extensionsmirror... must check it out. It seems that it has been quite some time since any significant changes have been made to adblock.

Yes I like the button version but it needs some more work to it.. like a right click prefs or something to enable and disable adblock but I prefer it then having that stupid textual statusbar garbage

I like this much better than having it in the statusbar... every so often I accidentally click it when it is down there and I never use it. Thanks...

I think extensions should not be integrated. The whole point of extensions is that the user gets to choose the features he/she wants.

If the extensions introduce new features then I agree totally. Firefox's success has been due to its simplicity. However, some extensions answer the most common questions asked by newbies in the Firefox support forum. Others simply provide a better default. Here are the reasons I would like to see the three main ones I've listed:
OpenBook - This is minor but one I would personally like to see the create bookmarks menu remember from last time whether you had the folder list showing or not. SortBookmarks - This has been something that has been asked numerous times in the forums. It has been partly solved in the 1.0PR release by providing "Sort by Name" to sort a folder via the context menu. But in general people want to sort their entire bookmark list and having the option presented at the top of the bookmarks menu is a lot more self-discoverable. Mozilla Archive Format - This is instrumental in me getting fiends of IE because of frequent spyware problems because they have an extensive collection of *.mht files. The fact you can save a multi page article as tabs in a single file to disk is nice but I would like to see Firefox at least support *.mht files for those who are moving away from IE. I just figured if there were more basic features, defaults or bugs that some extensions were solving and there was a general consenses then these are something we could file bug reports on. It seems that quite often there is a feature people want and they will open a feature enhancement bug... then an extension is created that fulfills that feature... and then if enough people want the feature and someone adds this feature then it gets added to the application... as with some of the new tab functionality in recent builds. I don't think many people would complain about the three items you mentioned being implemented. I do think that the people doing the developing don't have enough spare time to implement them currently.

I agree with you and was never intending anything to happen by the 1.0 release. There is a lot of bugs filed that need to be sorted out first. I was more thinking ahead to the 2.0 release. I'm not too worried if people disagree with the ones I've suggested as I've finally figured out do a customized setup with them included anyway. I just thought if there were basic things people thought should be included then we could look at filing bug reports and link back to this forum to show there is support.

No, I'm not happy with what FF provides by default. I have 21 extensions installed, none of which are the ones that you think should be integrated. Rob Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
