Colour scheme
On Linux, I still don't get where the UI colors come from for Firebird...
I have built it with Xft and Gtk2, with the Qute theme, where from does it dedide which colors to use for the drop-down menus, the toolbars and etc...
Does it inherit the colors from gnome and its theme manager? From the colors scheme I have chosen in Kde control center? Can someone explains?
I want to replicate the Windows behaviour where, when changing the general scheme with desktop properties, it changes the firebird UI colors; doing that from KDE control center only!
Would that work by building the bird with Gtk2 not enabled?
Anyone knows? Thanks for helping

Re: Colour scheme
As the build is a GTK2 build KDE control center is pretty much useless here. You need the Gnome control center to change the GTK2 UI theme.

Linux + Firebird + gtk2 + XFT is neat.

So, If I built firebird with Gtk2 disabled, would firebird UI colors follow KDE settings?
Thanks for your Help

Nope. I think then it defaults to the default FB UI settings...
There is a thread http://www.mozillazine.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10808 where someone was talking about "deuglyfying" FB in KDE environment. If the FAQ is made online then I guess it will be helpful ...

Success story
OK, so none of the builds would work on my old 333MHz/i586/56MB RAM, so, being crazy, I decided to compile it on that machine. I am using Debian Sid, i.e., the "old" GLIBC.
It actually worked. All I had to do was grab libsdl-dev off of apt-get, and now I am happily running GTK2/XFT on a cruddy old computer. It doesn't take up any more RAM than regular Firebird, either.
Who should I send the completed package to?
I added in a few features, too...

- AltaVista has been added to the search bar as an alternative to Google
- Firebird FINALLY has a proper icon (the blue one from Firebird Help)
