The Official Win32 20041028 [Br/Tr] builds are out.

Post by Peter(6) »

Special bug # 253831 to report popups that aren't blocked by Firefox popup blocker

The Official Win32 ..... builds are out , RSS feed (new, opens html page with RSS button)
IRC channel #Firefox
IRC channel #Spreadfirefox

Test Firefox 1.0RC1, but read what needs to be tested !
Also read the Update faqs

Read this about incompatible EXTENSIONS(version 0.10.1->1.0)
Easy workaround, Close Firefox,
open \%appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\randomname\extensions\Extensions.rdf
and change maxVersion="0.10" to maxVersion="1.0" (there may be a few).

The Official Win32 2004-10-28 [Aviary Branch] is out
The Official Win32 2004-10-28[Trunk] is out.

The previous Official Win32 build was 2004-10-26 BRANCH || 2004-10-27 TRUNK

The latest nightly general directories: Official Branch ||Localized Branch || Official Trunk || Unofficial Branch/Trunk

Firefox 1.0PR Releasenotes || Extensions || Themes

If you find problems/bugs:
  1. Post them in this thread
  2. Properly describe the problem
  3. Include the url where you have the problem (if this is the case)
  4. Include the "about mozilla firefox" information (under the help button)
  5. Installer build or .zip version?
  6. Did you completely erase the Firefox directory first?
  7. Does a new profile fix the problem?
  8. Include the list of extensions you have installed (preferably none to start with, especially not TBE)
This makes it a lot easier for others to duplicate your problem.

Am I the only one feeling excited?
I hope they won't reopen the aviary branch till 1.0, just listen to feedback and only decide to fix some ultra-critical bugs to just not ruin the 1.0 release in some way and still make it for 11-9.

I'm excited, too.

It's likely they'll never re-open the branch except for a possible security fix point release like has happened multiple times with previous milestones. After the 1.0 final the devs will be merging the branch enhancements back into the trunk, which is based on newer mozilla suite code. That's why I'm truly excited about 1.1 or 1.5, whichever they decide to call it.

i have a bug with quicktime files in firefox branch 2004-10-26 under windows xp with new profiles.

if i want to open a aiff or move file with firefox under an account and not as an admin, the browser sleeps and doesn't do something.

with an admin-account it works.

why?

Heh, it's going to be awesome to have a 1.0. However, as 'bleeding edge' kinda guy, I'm worried about the Aviary closure. I have this creeping feeling that the trunk is going to be in flames for WEEKS when Aviary comes crashing down on it...

I'm not that pessimist. It seems to me that trunk misses many cosmetic improvements and only a few important ones (find toolbar, new tab browsing options). Some important features (like the update system) have already been checked in; there is simply not enough time to iron out the associated bugs.
How much attention will be dedicated to trunk in the near future depends on the security problems of the 1.0 release (I hope there aren't any but it is likely that the increased publicity will reveal a few ones).

I think bugzilla will greatly help for a reasonably fast incorporation of those branch fixes in the trunk.

Seems so, although the UA string suggests it's a yesterday's build: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041026 Firefox/1.0RC1

CS
Durian, King of Fruits
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20041227 Firefox/1.0+ (bangbang023)

Peter,

You can propbably remove Bug 178469 from your list. It should have been fixed when the patch from Bug 239472 landed.

another high quality service from the Mozilla Afterdark forum :-)

I wonder what to test with this one. No theme & extension updates available. Perhaps the developers could give a clue on searching for nasty things (security issues and other problems that would block the final release).
