Thunderbird Saving multiple emails to disk

Post by Marionvk »

I might have 50 emails that need to be saved to a different folder on my computer(not a Thunderbird folder). It is very slow to go to each email, select File, Save As, and then choose the location and save.

Is there an easier way to do this, where I can select all 50 emails and have them save as .eml files, in the same order, to a different location? A complication is that many of them might have the same Subject title, and it is only the date or sender that is different.

You can use this extension to save all of the messages in a given folder to disk -- https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/mboximport-en.html

To install a Thunderbird extension do the following:
Right click the download link on the extension's home page and choose "Save Link As...". Then, in Thunderbird, go to Tools->Addons->Extensions tab->click on the "Install" button. Navigate to the just downloaded .xpi file and select it. Click on the "Open" button. The installation will now begin. You will need to close and reopen Thunderbird to complete the install.
