Latest version always at Mozilla Addons site!

Hi Fellow Mozillians!

I'm glad to put into your consideration my version of
DOM Inspector improved ['dm Version']

I've added:

- HORIZONTAL SCROLL Bar in Dom Tree panel.

- Added new "BOX MODEL Plus" viewer with better layout and more data (see screenshot!).

    - scrollTop, scrollLeft, ΔscrollWidth, ΔscrollHeight values only appear if there is at least one nonzero value. "Δ" is "delta", the values are the difference of the visible Width/Height and the total scrollWidth/Height. (you can think of the "delta" values as the invisible part). This "delta" use allows the values to appear *only* when the 'invisible' part is nonzero. (they tipically appear for an object with fixed Width/Height and content inside it that had overflowed)
    - Standard Box model stays too, with some styling (column align, etc).

- Resizable dialog for 'Edit/New Attribute'.

Image

(You can even leave original DOM-Inspector installed and disabled for watching updates)..

FYI: the option "View" -> "Blink Selected Element" is working only for deactivated Hardware acceleration (in Firefox: Options -> Advanced)

Enjoy!

Javier 'Darth Madara'

ps: Any bugreport is welcomed here. (please don't post them in the addon's page, but of course you can post Reviews there :-) )

Thank you Phil. Excellent idea !

Done. New Enhancement entry in bugzilla for New BOX-MODEL thing (screenshot): https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=615156

I'll also upload a patch to Bugzilla entry about Horizontal-Scroll-Bar: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=112832

Now all interested people can vote for these in Bugzilla. ;-)

Javier.

ps: I haven't realized to to that with DOMi, despite having uploaded some Firefox fixes proposals in bugzilla already.

Welcome to review hell :D But thanks very much for the patch. Colby Russell has been slowly cleaning up the DOMi but he isn't actually paid to work on it so has been only doing small improvements in his spare time. I hope more people start contributing towards modernizing the DOMi since SeaMonkey ships with this.

Yeah, the Mozilla culture is that everything has to go through bugzilla, there is even a bug about fixing up a blocked toilet in the Mountain View offices. Ewww.

Cool, the changes @ bugzilla an http://hg.mozilla.org/ can simply be rolled into 2.0.9 of DOMi :) Just tried that... Now, if I only could make it supposrt stacked inspector...

Just submit a patch to bugzilla, just like Javier did.

Ah well, since there's nothing new, I'll skip it. What I meant was that one can take the raw files Javier has produced at http://hg.mozilla.org/dom-inspector/rev/4163ab44e89b and open DOMi 2.0.9 up, and replace the said files. If I had committed something, I'd continue to bugzilla:)

What's up with the Bugzilla entry about Horizontal-Scroll-Bar? Can you please make a new version of DOM Inspector [dm] in the mean time?

Addon's Main page updated with this info:

Complementary Stuff:

* Below is a copy of "Element Inspector" addon that can be used with this addon. (I'll contact the author to make this work with public versions of these 2 addons)
* There's also an alternative copy of this addon "Dom Inspector Plus [dm]" with a few more little things. Please see README file! (explains some things that may look weird at first sight)

About alternative copy of "DomI Plus":
"p Computed Style" is on purpose, no prob :-) , please see README file at same place:

From README:
- Shows "p Computed Style" in Object context-menu. (when you see 'Dom Node', 'Box Model'...), so you can quickly click & type 'p' to switch to 'Computed Style', 'c' to show css, etc. (at least in english locale)
