Sunbird: my wish-list

Post by grigio60 »

I'm currently using Sunbird for my professional activity. There are some features I'd like to have (actually I'm missing them) such as:

- The capability to define a "default" Calendar among those available to the user
- The capability to move an event from a Calendar to another one (now I have to delete the event from the old Calendar and recreate it under the new one)
- The capability to have views filtered by Calendar (i.e. to see only events defined for one specific Calendar)

Agreed, if you mean the choice of which calendar to use when first entering an event or task. I want to use a remote calendar for everything, but it always comes up with the local file as the default and I must remember to change it for every entry.

Yes! Yes! YES!!
This would be less needed if we get your first request, but still YES!

- The capability to have views filtered by Calendar (i.e. to see only events defined for one specific Calendar)

You can turn the display of the various calendars on and off right now. Click the Calendars tab just below the toolbars at the top, then just check or uncheck your choice of calendars.

Now here's one from me:

- The ability for it to remember login names and passwords for remote calendars.

I'll second the login manager request though I have a feeling it's already in the works :)

Many thanks for the hint! (How could I've been so stupid not to notice it?)

In the meanwhile, I have another one wish. To have also for events a new "Done" or "Completed" status, affecting the graphical representation (i.e. by graying out text). Possibly accessable via right click on the event itself, from a contextual menu ("Mark Event as Done").
Useful as a reminder of what's missed :(

My own 2 cents : what about a clock permanently displayed somewhere on the GUI ? Sounds stoopid, but a calendar is all about time, no ?

And what about a timer, telling you "next scheduled Alarm in xx minutes ?"

Agreed. Being able to copy/paste events properly depends on this as well.

What I wish for?

Multiple alarms for the one event.

So that I can get reminded today that my girlfriedn's birthday is next week, again that it is tomorrow, and again that she is angry at me cos I missed it.

I know you can snooze, but it's not quite what I want.

I've hit 'acknowledge' when I've meant to hit 'snooze' before as well.

Automatic handling of any attachment is a bad idea, but maybe prompted importing would be cool, then it could be Sunbird compatible as well then.

I know it's scheduled for calendar 2.0, but this would really be nice to have before than that....

I like the idea of a default calendar. Did you know that if you select a calendar in left hand list of calendars that is the calendar put into the new event/todo dialog.
