The bottom of the messages pane starts shaking up and down very quickly, as if it can't decide if it wants to draw a scrollbar or just display all the messages in the folder.

I've noticed the same thing when using the search bar. If the right number of results appear, the scroll bar flickers, making the program unusable until you close and reopen it. This is using WinXP.

Thanks to macrxnapa for donating the Mach-O build.
Thanks to andred as always for donating the linux build.

New things in this build:
1) I believe all of these builds contain the two fixes for the recent crashes in Mozilla when moving messages around.

2) Viewing messages in various charsets should now be fixed (http://www.mozillazine.org/forums/viewt ... 1539#91539)
3) Linux and Mach-O builds are now correctly building the new toolkit so you should not see any errors when customizing toolbars and many of the widgets should look different
4) Put back the ability to drop toolbar buttons in the menubars since a lot of people didn't like that I turned that off in order to dummy proof customizeable toolbars.
5) Collapsed overlay work in the address book and mail compose by Stephen Walker which should improve new window time for these windows slightly
6) the MNG image decoder is no longer part of the build. The throbber has been converted to an animated GIF. Thanks to Pavlov for providing the new animated gifs. This allows us to save over 300K by not including the decoder.
7) Fixed a JS error after customizing toolbars that would cause your menus to be locked in the disabled state.

I think that's about it.

Enjoy,
-Scott

It sounds great (especially number 2) :)
Why would you even consider to use the OS that is older and more obsolete than your computer?
See, that's just one of the reasons why I pick Linux.

Problem with the new build

Post by arunsub »

I downloaded the latest thunderbird 10 min back. I'm getting an error message saying "mail server doesnot support secrure authentication". I went back to 05/30 build and it's working fine.

You could have tried to disable secure authentication ;)
Account options, Server settings, there's a checked checkbox, Use secure authentication. Uncheck it and you should be fine!

I had the same, uncheck "Use secure authentification" in your account settings. I thought it was just me, but now it sounds like a bug - looks like the checkbox checks itself automagically :)

Yup, same here.... Yet I sort of concluded that I should uncheck the checkbox myself...

Previous versions seemed to try the secure authentication and then fail over into insecure authentication. This means that for old servers running without this ability, the start up time is much quicker (because there's no wait for the timeout).

To test whether your mail server accepts secure authentication, just wait, secure authentication is on by default, and if it fails will return an error message rather than failing over. To turn it off, the option is under the account settings > server settings just above check for new messages at start up.

This was a change to Mozilla Mail:

http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=205571

Looks like secure auth was enabled by default then I pulled my tree, then someone backed it out shortly there after turning it back off.

So the next round of builds will have this turned off again.

The joys of working on a moving trunk!

Not sure if i should be posting this here or not (new around here) but.....

First, thanks for the new build. with the addition of spellcheck and partial themes (few builds ago) this client is by far the best choice out there for IMAP.

Second....

the new theme (icons) looks great, however, the old buttons are still used for the create new mail window (and elsewhere i think), is this going to be changed?

I have also run into the 'jumping window' when you have a number of messeges in the message pane for that account that exceeds the height of the window, if a messege is half on / half out of the window pane the bottom of the window jumps up and down continiously until a messege is moved or deleted. i assume the scrollbars take an integer and its trying to divide that and ending up with a .5 (or something similar to that) so it cant choose how long to make the scrollbar (maybe???)

Also, when creating a new mail, if you type a paragraph and then resize the window so the message is again longer than the window pane, the bottom of the scroll bar disappears (better than before, where no scroll bar would be created at all, but just thought id mention it).

Thanks
This statement is false.

I think I read somewhere, that the GIF-Patent only lasts until 20 June 2003. I cannot find the source, but I found the patent online:

Nach der Windows Version sind jetzt auch die UNIX / Linux und MacOS X Versionen der deutschen Übersetzung für den 03-06-2003 build fertig.

I just replaced the existing 6-03 windows build with a new version that is identical except it reverts to the original default pref for secure auth. It should show up in about 15 minutes.

If you were running into this issue, download the build again.
