Unable to connect to your IMAP server error.
I am running Mdaemon for a IMAP server on the same machine (XP Pro SP3) as Thunderbird 3.05.
I have tried lowering the setting "Tools -> Account Settings -> Server Settings -> Advanced -> IMAP -> Maximum number of server connections to cache"5" to 1 on all 8 email accounts, the result was the same.
I have also tried increasing the default from 5 to 30, also the same result.
Suggestions please
Cheers

Re: Unable to connect to your IMAP server error.
If it is really unable to connect, the only possible reason is a "security" program on your computer blocking the port. If it cannot maintain multiple connections, then the reason might be the server settings or a server bug.

Re: Unable to connect to your IMAP server error.
Thanks Rod, finally figured it out, it was the IMAP server, stop and restarted and all is well.
The only thing now is Thunderbird keeps crashing from every few minutes to hour or so... It has never crashed on me until version 3.0.5 and having set up IMAP.
Cheers

Re: Unable to connect to your IMAP server error.
Thanks Dan, for whatever reason that is beyond me, today it hasn't crashed at all.
Since creating new IMAP accounts for each email my profile has doubled in size to 23.8GB, I removed each previous POP3 account, however the emails must still be being stored. Can someone please advise if this is the case and how to address it.

And now it has crashed twice in the last hour
Each time it sends a report back to Mozilla and I have added my email address, so hopefully someone there will be able to work out the issue.

Re: Unable to connect to your IMAP server error.
Do you have extensions installed in this installation of Thunderbird? If so, have you tried launching the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

Re: Unable to connect to your IMAP server error.
Hi Dan, yes a few extensions:
English (Australian) Dictionary 2.1.1
Firebug 1.5.4
FoxClocks 2.6.18
Java ( a whole heap of them, so just uninstall all and will let it pick up one when it needs).
LogMeIn, Inc Rescue 6.2.0.743
Net Usage Item 1.2.261.1
United States English Dictionary 4.0.0
It has crashed 3 times this morning, but nothing for the last 2 hours. It seems to happen when archiving has just been started.
Cheers

Re: Unable to connect to your IMAP server error.
Close Thunderbird and relaunch in Safe Mode. Run in that way for a time (a full day if you can) to see if that stops the crashes. If it does, it indicates that one of the installed extensions is likely at fault.
