will mozilla or and phoenix will support windows mediaplayer as player in browser?
Windows Media Player maintains a list in the registry of executable names that WMP9 will work from so the fix is to add mozilla.exe and phoenix.exe as keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList key in the Windows registry.
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=193883 thanks a lot, ive addes phoenix.exe and mozilla.exe and its now working
thanks I saw that MP9 was being used properly on the test site mentioned in the bug (after I'd made the registry change), but other MPG files still load MP9 externally for me - I have no inline player. I'm not sure if that really matters to me, but it's interesting.
Hi! Need help on how to make WMP9 work with Mozilla.
I was already able to let WMP9 work with Mozilla under Win98SE by adding the mozilla key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList. However, how would I do this now that I'm using WinXP? There's no ShimInclusion under MediaPlayer in the registry. Thanks man. More power! ![]() its there on mine

I'm using WinXP Home Edition. Can't find it there. I've searched the entire registry already! Damn windows!!
![]() HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList
Would not 'search' in my WinXP Pro. I had to manually go to that key, then look at the inclusion list. Free Your Mind, And Your A$$ Will Follow - Funkadelic, 1970
not in my list either. BUT i am using WMP 8.0, not 9.0. Haven't upgraded yet. This could be why its not there. If you just installed XP or haven't upgraded to 9.0 yet, you might still have the 8.0 that comes with XP. Try upgrading to 9.0 and see if it shows up.
WinXP SP2 & Mandrake 10
Firefox 1.0 RC1 on both Thunderbird 0.8 on both I Have WMP9.
WMP9 is in the inclusion list. It works well as a standalone, with Firebird, Netscape, Opera, and IE. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList IS in my registry. Somehow the registry search tool does not Find it by copying and pasting the above key in the Find box. I can view it by manually going to that KEY.
